First game.Lets give it to the guy, he needs more chances to perform.Normally he would have expected field spread out while coming in at no. 7, but he was crowded with 7 fielders that denied him a single, which otherwise could have relieved some butterflies in the stomach once he keeps churning the strike over.He is not the kind of player who will take you out of crucial match situations and anchor the innings.he is a sort of slambang strokeplayer who will belt the spinners in the middle overs and try and take the game in his team's favour.

Don't forget how he smoked Steyn to all corners in his homeland RSA
We'll see - let him be given some matches. Unless he has a half-a-decent technique to add to aggression, he'll be found wanting in Intl matches. He may have the technique, I dont know with just one match. He deserves chances, will be given those by selectors it looks like, so we'll wait and watch.

doesnt look like someone who has the technique to play when the ball is doing something, but ODIs are now a one way traffic with pitches becoming really flat, so i guess if he has a good temperament he would succeed at the highest level.

He is a wannabe Dhoni. There can be only one Dhoni. Be yourself Mr Saurabh Tiwari.
every cricketer in India are wannabe something and something...Sehwag was wannabe SRT...Laxman was wannabe Azhar....Pujara is wannabe Dravid....Pathan was wannabe Wakram....Mohnish Parmar is wannabe Murli...Mayank Aggrawal is wannabe Sehwag....Dhoni himself was wannabe Adam Gilchrist....and it is a llong list So let him play a bit more games and fate will decide itself whether he belongs to the highest level or not....

didn't showed too much timing and class, was just slogging, will not survive much if this is how he plays. We better stick to M Vijay at #3, #4 kholi, #5 UV, #6 Raina and #7 Dhoni, SRT can replace M Vijay when he is playing

rahulrulezz, I am fully supportive of team mgmt giving opportunities for S.T. in both Aus and NZ odi series. They have selected him. Lets give him the full 5-6 matches, and check him out. I agree with that. However, with respect to technique, just plonking your front foot and swiping wont take you anywhere. Case in point - Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa. Nowadays, Uthappa has tightened his game a little bit better, and is back in contention. Cowlashing wont work all the time. Look at Raina, he is an aggressive player but not a cowlasher. Hopefully Uthappa will be able to reinvent like that, and hopefully Saurabh Tiwary will prove to be better than what Yusuf Pathan did. This is International cricket, not domestic. Just plonk your front foot and swing - and you will struggle more often than not.

hmmm.... I'd concede the point that he prolly is better against the fast ballers, but I have to rewatch those shots to confirm the beastliness :hmmm:
