fineleg Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Decent outing at Vizag R Ashwin 9 0 34 1 3.77 http://www.cricinfo.com/india-v-australia-2010/engine/current/match/464529.html Kept it tight, and esp. when M. Clarke the best Aus (current) batsman against spinners was playing. Good luck for the future.
vvvslaxman Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Not a debut. He already made debut. 2 for 51 and 38 runs on his debut.
Andy Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Did beter job than what Bhajji has been doing recently. :csk:

jusarrived Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 he will have to do a lot more than to replace Harbajan from ODI team ...lets no confuse Bhajji's Test performance with ODI's ...Ashwin will have to perform with the bat imo to make an impact ....unless we are considering two off spinners in our lineup
WeStMiDz Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Solid outing, nothing spectacular. Needs to find a nice channel just outside offstump as he was too middle/legstump today but I guess that's the line that spinners operate with in limited over cricket now. Pitch offered nothing in the first half so will be interesting to see him on a track where he gets a little grip and then his carrom ball will really take effect.

Most of his wickets are either lbw or bowled.
Ram Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 He seemed to have bowled a controlled spell, which isn’t anything unusual for him. He has shown himself to be capable of doing this over an extended period of time now, against a variety of opposition in more challenging scenarios than this one. The Indian team seems to have finally realized that Jadeja’s mythical batting abilities are only that – a myth. They’re obvious testing waters with Aswhin and he didn’t disappoint. But his real challenge will come against teams like Lanka, who are a lot more adept at playing spin in Asian conditions. If Ashwin does succeed, will it spur on the team to play two specialist spinners? From every thing that Dhoni has said in the recent past, it seems like the 3 pacer strategy is definitely set in concrete, which is disappointing because we have the spin bowling option that can effectively tie down the opposition, with or without fielding restrictions.
Shane Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Bowling: Didnt really test the aussies, but it was good controlled bowling, Would love to see his variations more often, not good enough yet to replace the ODI Bhajji. Fielding: Looked stiff, Kumblesq! Dont think he will be an asset on the field. Good outing overall
Rajan Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Pitch was a bowler's nightmare. considering that, he did really well . Most of the time, he was bowling to well set batsmen, who are also top batsmen against spin-Clarke/Hussey/White. Will improve if given a consistent run.currently our best bet as an young off spinner.
