maniac Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 When he does it against real bowlers Razzaq vs South Africa Afridi vs Sri Lanka Afridi's innings came in a losing cause and can you name the world class bowlers in the SA attack during Razzaq's innings. This attack had the likes of Vettori,Mills and Southee who are by no means second string
vvvslaxman Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 When he does it against real bowlers Razzaq vs South Africa Afridi vs Sri Lanka Pathans innings is like Afridi's vs India Poor poor bowling attacks Let us see how Razzaq plays Vettori. He sucks big time against any type of spinner.

Make him captain' date=' I would say.[/quote'] :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Lol One freak innings and people here are saying he is better than Yuvi and he might replace Kohli. He will surely be picked for ODI series in SA,lets see what he has got? The only thing Yusuf has done here is that he has proved he is more useful than Jadeja.I will still take Uthappa or even Rohit over him as of now. To be frank that sounds a bit insane. How can you compare him to Kohli or Uthappa or even Rohit. I think most of us here were discussing no.7 spot as an allrounder. Uthappa cannot bowl, Kohli hardly bowls and Rohit does not bowl at intl. level. You can compare Yusuf with only Jadeja and surely YP is better than Jadeja as of now for the no.7 spot. And if we instead want to go with 7 batsmen instead then why would Uthappa and Rohit be playing in that spot instead of Kohli who deserves a lot more to be in the Indian team. It is fight for the seventh position now between YP and Kohli and it needs to be seen if they would go for a proper awesome batsman or an allrounder at that spot. Both would be included in the world cup squad from what I see though it remains who will be picked for no.7 by Dhoni in the playing 11. I would also not opt out Rohit or Uthappa from the 15 member world cup squad though I do not see then in the final 11.

Look having the potential and delivering are two totally different things. UUU right about now is not even in the reckoning and rightly so based on cricketing reasons keeping personal preferences aside which we all have.

I would also go with VK to be frank as he deserves more and I am really impressed by the recent performances as well as recent temperament/attitude of VK. But then I am not sure if Dhoni would go with 7 batsmen. I doubt that he will go for an allrounder instead for the balance of the team. But VK surely deserves a lot more but cannot see how can he be accommodated in the final 11. And I dont think he will also be able to bat at no.7 . He would probably bat at no.4 followed by UV at no.5, Dhoni at no.6 and Raina at no.7 .. then it would be a bit unfair for Raina to be relegated to a no.7 instead of being a proper batsman
youngindia Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 When he does it against real bowlers Razzaq vs South Africa Afridi vs Sri Lanka Pathans innings is like Afridi's vs India Poor poor bowling attacks Against real attacks, what have pak batsmen done? afridi has 19 vs australia and 23 vs SA. (and against india's attack he has managed no more than 25 despite over 60 matches.only 2 points more than against "real bowlers") but its not too bad if you consider pakistan's track record .identify this batsman? :hysterical: 23.55 vs aus 17.30 vs sa
Guest Hiten. Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 LOL! The ICF Hype Machinery working overtime. I fail to understand what he has proved by cowlashing a team which was whitewashed by Bangladesh. His ability to cowlash substandard attacks was never in doubt. LOL! You said it all mate
Ram Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Yusuf Pathan is not worth hyping up as some sort of once-in-a-generation player, nor is it fair to casually dismiss him as a 'cowlasher..' He has skills that can come extremely handy in certain situations. If you're team think-tank trying to constitute a batting line-up that could potentially end up chasing multiple 300+ scores over the course of an ICC event, it would be foolish to ignore someone like him. We need an x-factor down the order, especially considering the fact that Yuvi is still groping his way around and MSD is not nearly the explosive hitter he once was. Can Yusuf be that x-factor? Maybe, maybe not. All we’ve had is mixed indications so far.
fineleg Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Can Yusuf Pathan prove himself against the SA ODI team in the next series? (even though it is not played in Indian pitches). If he does, then that will be the WC2011 berth for him. Send him slightly up the order in SA ODI series, and lets see how he can measure up to good pace bowling. If he struggles a lot against SA, then its a toss-up, not sure how selectors will go. Otherwise, Virat Kohli is miles and miles ahead as a better batsman. Its really tough to omit VK. I think they need to pick 2 out of {Raina, Yuvi, Kohli} or you can even say 3 out of 4 {Raina, Yuvi, Kohli, Gambhir} in the playing-11 for individual matches depending on the form of the batsmen. All 4 need to be in the WC2011 squad. If Kohli keeps performing well, then the pressure is on the other middle order batsmen to match up. Between Yusuf Pathan and Ravi Jadoo - YP will have an edge on Indian pitches.
Texy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 YP would have been GOLD if he was more consistent...but boy can he bring fear to the opposing team! OUR team needs player like him who can dominate....why do you think bowlers around the world respect sehwag Hats off to Pathan snatched victory out of NZ's mouth when we looked down and out...
putrevus Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Guy like YP needs confidence and belief in his own ability and also this 100 gives him some rope with selectors, he is never going to top order batsmen so comparing VK is ridiculous, Hope this gives him confidence for future success.I will take him over Jadeja any day of week and twice on sundays.
Online Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Sehwag Sachin Gambhir Yuvraj Raina Dhoni Pathan Harbhajan Praveen Zaheer Munaf

fineleg Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 worldcup is is india and not sa...pathan can be more than handy there. we can worry about getting the team right for overseas odi series later. Selectors will have to make a decision on YP, and they dont have any ODI series in India. So, unfortunately they just have to go with this NZ series and the SA ODI series. The thing I was saying is - if YP manages to do well in SA against their bowling attack, then it is a guarantee for him that he will be in WC2011. Because that means he can manage his weakness against fast bowling. Ideally, the ODI series against SA should have been scheduled in India? Even SA would have preferred that, good prep for WC for them, and for India too.
Chaos Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 i will go with kohli than with the retarded yuvi
Zap_Brannigan Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 This innings means much more than just winning the match. This innings has ensured that Jadeja will not be in the playing 11 for the WC, probably won't even make it to the squad...It's a great day today!!:yay::yay::yay:
Desi Cartman Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 He is no Michael Beaven but YKP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> King Jadeja
