How Good Is Unadkat ?

I have seen him mentioned here few times. I saw a bit of him in IPL. Still seemed a bit raw to me albeit with a decent action. But to be fair I have seen only a few deliveries. So, is he good enough at the highest level ?

the only instance when i have seen his is during U19 WC game against pak; was very impressive but then it was U19 level

When I saw in OZ for the India A tour, when he has confidence, he can run through a side. My only problem I think will be he will spray it all over the place if he plays tomorrow.

Left arm swing bowler should have ability to take the ball away from left hander and into right hander.Very few left handers have it and from the video it looks like he is still WIP.It will be very risky to play unless conditions are so heavily favored for swing bowling.

I agree. After looking at the clips I felt that he needed to get a bit more side on to get the swing going. Though the angle of the camera was not the most conducive one to make such judgement but somehow could not find the side on action and the pivot to get the ball swinging.

he is talented but still not ready for a test debut and is not too pacy but becos he is a left arm swinger n a 135 K bowler he can turn deadly as a left armer with swing and a pace of 140k is a very dangerous option( as Zaheer and ex nehra were).... we need to groom him

You do not need to be very side on to swing the ball back in to right handed batsman as a LFM...its mainly about seam and wrist position while delivering the ball..Look at Zaheer, he is not side on, Nehra too is not side on, Wasim Akram was not very side on too, and Mitchell Johnson is side on and still does not swing it back.....

In fact by being too side on, Pathan lost his pace and also his swing. It is really in the wrists.

But on some occasions it also tends to depends on the way the left armer is pivoting. I think when Irfan made his debut he was really side on and hence got that natural in swinger. I think even RPS falls under this category. Zak is more of a seam bowler but yes occasionally he does swing the ball back. But then he's experienced enough to be able to master it. Wasim Akram, when he came onto the scene was very side on. Infact I remember he was the one who pointed this about Irfan when he was having a slump. MJ, you have rightly pointed out, has one of the worst wrist positions. I think wrist position does matter but sometimes the delivery stride also plays a pivotal role. That's what I feel.

Another important thing is bowling a bit close to the stumps which helps in reducing the angle

He needs atleast 6 months before he's ready for international cricket. I hope the selectors don't ruin the young boy's career.

I think Pradeep has become a T20 specialist.
