pathetic shot earlier but it seems more acceptable for Sehwag to do it than any other opener in the world. If Strauss played that shot he would have to resign next morning.
Sehwag is best when left alone.Chappel tried to change him and look what happened.
you can't have a player run amock trying to 'play his own game' or 'if the ball is there to hit i hit' like sehvag puts in his broken english in test cricket. this is the biggest test series in recent times for india and a lot is at stake here. its not another meaningless india sri lanka test series where he can go about his free willy swinging ways. someone needs to sit him down and teach the value of his wicket and if he continues his ways drop him. I give him one more match to prove his worth.

yep that's what we've sunk to. team not doing too well? just bring pakistan into it and look to their pathetic state to feel good about ourselves. just the sort of mentality which keeps us from becoming a developed nation.
N balla can shout from roof tops that he is indian but the truth is he is pakistani disguised and acting as Indian.

if 7600 runs at an average of over 54, including 2 triple centuries and countless other innings which set up test match victories for India cannot convince you of Sehwag's utility to this team and you still believe that he needs to change his style of play then :finger:

The bowlers didn't earn them, sehwag threw it away.

yeah, its the way he plays and thats how he's got all his runs and its always been his strength. He's always been a player who plays the game on the very edge and gives bowlers chances but IMO if he's asked to mellow down then he will no longer be the same batsman. I would'nt like to see him change his batting style in any way, but thats just my opinion :winky:

Time for you to learn abit more about cricket, Sehwag plays how he only knows how and theres been plenty of innings when he has left numerious balls on the off side which in the past he would have taken a swipe at without any feet movement and 5-10% times got out. However the batsman's job is still to score runs and you will inevitably get out playing a shot...!!

You don't make any sense, however if you support what Sehwag did in the 2nd Innings of this test you are nuts.

Seriously, after all this time, after all the runs, after all the centuries, doubles and triples, you guys still want to question Sehwag's approach? Its easy for us to sit here and question the approach, but bear in mind that it is the same free-flowing attitude to batting that has given him more than 7000 test runs at a SR of 80. It cannot be that you guys enjoy his batting when it comes off and critique it when it doesnt. Having said that, its not like he CANNOT play with restraint. His 150 on day 5 in the Adelaide test match in 2008 helped us save the match. Belive it or not, but Sehwag went an entire session that day without scoring a bounday! :omg: If anything, I am slightly disappointed at the dismissals of Dravid/Tendu. Both of those shots, especially Dravid's, was completely uncharacteristic. I dont know what those guys were thinking when they played those shots. The need of the hour then was solid defence and of all people, the rookie Pujara showed how to do it. Of course, no point crying over spilt milk. The match has moved far past those situations. Lets just hope we can pull this off.

i would take sehwag's approach over dravid and tendulkar's caution any day. ppl are criticising him for getting out, but look at his innings in some proper context - the guy's 32 was the 2nd highest score of the innings, and he scored more than dravid, tendulkar and dhoni combined.

Exactly... Mind you, Sehwag always have to play against a total brand new ball against fresh Steyn and Morkel... Dravid is lucky as new ball looses it ulta-seam movement after first 6 overs.. Can't believe you guys ppl actually complain about Sehwag.. what did Vijay, Pujara, Dravid do by tuk tuk cricket Fact is: You WIN by scoring RUNS not by playing dot balls

if you score a 90% in your first year in college it doesn't mean you can afford a failing grade the next year. yes sehwag scored all those runs and in fine fashion, yes he helped us win matches but its all in the past. besides he was lucky in quite a few of those knocks.
