One of the most influential men in history was born on this day :hmmm: What day is it in the lunar calendar ?
The first month of the spring, according to the Islamic calendar. I'm not sure about the date of the month.
Wished my Muslim friends ' date=' apparently this Eid is not celebrated by Sunni Muslims :--D[/quote'] Thats incorrect. Many if not most of the Sunni Muslims do celebrate this event. There are some schools of thought which say that Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w) himself did not celebrate the birthdays of his relatives or his own birthday, and hence Muslims shouldn't celebrate his birthday. While some other scholars say that its completely okay to celebrate his birthday. Saudi Arabia is the only nation that bans celebration on this day. Every other nation celebrates the Mawlid.

Thank you for the kind wishes. Wish you the same. None of your friends seem to celebrate stuff. Boring friends you have. :P Jokes apart, I think that yours is a case of some Shia and Sunni individuals choosing not to celebrate the Mawlid. It is widely celebrated. Shias observe the festival a few days after the Sunni Mawlid. Some pics of the Mawlid being celebrated in India. http://www.hindustantimes.com/photos-news/Photos-India/IslamicfestivalofEid/Article4-663138.aspx
