bland bowling?yeah Sree was enertaining:haha: i doesnt matter how wickets come as long as they come.maybe it is easier for teams to come back, but with Sree it is quicker n easier if India had made 300(or even 280)I still wouldnt have wanted Sree because these bland bowlers can extend the game n create pressure by dot balls, where as Sree will lose it in a jiffy leaving no scope for others to make up for him.atleast we have this comfort now
some folks don't realize that an over of 24 runs (many of those through edges) in a match like this means little in the overall scheme of things where 2 quick wkts would put the other team into the back-foot the idea is not to extend a game but to close the game. easiest way to close the game, when bowling, is by picking up wkts. And you pick wkts up by having bowlers who go for wkts If Sree has to to be criticized then it should be for not picking up the wkts. Which is why I said that on another day he could have picked up more wkts with the kind of swing he was getting early on a team needs different type of bowlers, you don't want everyone to bowl the similarly. With the kind of theory you have, you could do well supporting teams like Eng and NZ. Those teams believe in creating pressure through dot balls :winky:

yeah wickets are important, never denied that.but that doesnt mean a bowler who has no idea about how to bowl in ODIs, n bowls the same way he does in tests.accuracy is far more important than, swing, bouncers etc in ODIs. we already have got 2 strike bowlers in Zak n Bhajji.dont need another inconsistent, expensive bowlers, who supposedly "goes" for wickets but ends up giving runs more often than not.we just need other bowlers like Munaf,Ashwin to play support roles to Zak,Bhajji, not try to be heroes n end up being a fool

I gotta say that it was just not his day today. He started of very unluckily. Couple of edges going for. Than a decent delivery hit well by Kayes, thats like almost 15-20 runs like that. Than he started trying to hard and tryed to bowl too much pace instad of line and got smacked for one four each over.

Forget that over by Sree, imagine BD are 20 runs less at the moment and were chasing 300 odd (which is something Ind could get against a better bowling attack). If a better side was chasing it, the type of bowling you want would not count for much. Which is why you need to go for wkts. Ofc, there is a "risk" involved in it. Risk by definition is like a sword that cuts both ways. There is no one thing that "always" works (or Ind would have won every game Sree didn't play in), which is why you need different option, the though process to implement different ideas and the desire to make things happen. For me, a bowler like Sree (Sree represents a bowler who looks to pick up wkts) is a tool to get a job done, if that doesn't work, I pick another tool from my arsenal. I don't want to be in a situation, where I have too many similar tools in my arsenal and there is not much flexibility.

its just not that over.Sree's career E/R is over 6,wheres the logic of picking him? if India make 300,restrictive bowlers would still work.Zak r Bhajji r anyway there to go for wickets.just need others to build pressure n be mentally tough which Sree isnt.infact by backing Sree, its you who r bringing sameness into the attack on the side of over attacking.we dont want that, this aint test cricket.if Zak n Bhajji dont pick up wickets its them who r the problem, not the bowling attack.they need to do thier job which is to pick wickets dont know what u mean by 'Sree is a bowler who looks to pick up wickets'.every main bowler does so.are u telling me Munaf doesnt look to pick up wickets?ofcourse he does, its just that he has better idea on how to go about it n doesnt try to go for wicket every ball because he knows that'll be disaster.

playing him in ODIs is as criminal as playing Vijay in ODIs. They do okay in Tests. Let them be there. Certain bowlers are not cut out to be ODI bowlers. Sree is one of them. Try some bowlers like Rajat Bhatia, Siddharth Trivedi .

Sree should concentrate on his acting/dancing - he has a far better future there.
Don't get me wrong I am a huge Sree guy but for the rest of the WC my man Ashish Nehra the best bowler at the death India has will hopefully return and show a thing or two to the rest. :-)

By mentioning the ER of Sree, you showed that you didn't get the point I made. Let's not forget that Sree replaced PK, who is also known to swing the ball early on. I think your whole concept is flawed from assuming Bhajji to be one who goes for wkts to thinking that Zak and Sree are similar in their approach. Also the idea of having options and flexibility in bowling attack has escaped you. I think that Zak, Sree, Munaf and Nehra are somewhat different from each other, which is what gives the captain the flexibility even to pick the best combination If Sree is playing, he is to pick up early wkts by what he does the best, i.e. swing the ball. To swing the ball he has to keep the ball up. I don't have to tell you that what does that mean. He shouldn't be criticized for leaking runs and/or bowling aggressively and going for wkts every ball. While someone like Zak, who is more versatile, is good both at the start and at the death. Munaf is good option as first change and at the death because he looks to bowl line and length. Nehra is good at the death and effective if he gets the swing going. As the captain, I would rather prefer to go for a few runs early on in the quest to pick up wkts. In the first 12-15 overs, my main focus would be to pick 2-3 wkts than have the opposition at 70-80 for 1 or no loss, which is probably more risky when we have part-timers coming in to bowl later on. In the process to pick up early wkts, I am willing to accept a few risk. Based on what you have written so far, you are probably not able to grasp the concept being discussed here :winky:

the thread is massive wrist slitting reaction sree had a bad game, but some of his deliveries in the first spell were on the mark. the guy actually got some nice swing, unlike our other guys. had a review against tamim and the bangladeshis only got runs against him off crappy edges. this was just bad luck everyone knows sree is a confidence bowler, if he gets a wicket early he is a completely different bowler. if things go against him he struggles to find rhythm. the question u want to ask urself is whether u would rather have him in there ahead of nehra. i would prefer the 2nd spinner but sree is still better than nehra.

He is not a bad bowler but certainly lacks control and the question is, can India afford him with the options available ? probably not, so time to look at Ashwin/Chawla

manny ' date=' with all due respect , watch out for the england game :)[/quote'] india is definitely playing 2 spinners against england, so there is no point in discussing the 3rd seamer england against spin = :haha:

If i was dhoni i wud still give sree chance in the team one bad game doesnt make him bad what about nehra who is the run leaker in last 20 odd games and what about jadeja who is not gud enough to play for india.
