Secondly, if I were the captain, I would- Organize more fielding drills Get players to improve their reflexes Improve the fitness regime Ensure the players work on improving their stamina If an average Aussie can, if a Zim can, if a Sri Lankan can, why can't an Indian be a world-class fielder?

You are right. Dhoni did an amazing job and the results are there to see for us. From September '09 when he first whined to today, he's turned around the team so well, that even Jeetendra's jumping around would be put to shame. Yes, they can be and there are good fielders in the Indian side. But you cant do much about guys like Munaf Patel, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan, Ashish Nehra, Sehwag now. The training has to start right when they started playing cricket. Obviously, fielding was not taken as seriously then as it is now and they didnt work on it enough and so they will never become great fielders.

If man wishes to, or is prodded to turn his career or any aspect of his cricket around, he can. Jonty Sidhu, the strokeless wonder, is one of the great Indian examples of average technique but a big heart.
