Cricket-Bangladesh fans throw stones at West Indies team bus

I know our guys are pretty fussy about security anyway, but this should be a good wake-up call for the local law enforcement agencies that coordinate securtiy for the matches in India. We cannot afford to take chances in these matters. Even a small scratch on the forehead of a visting player will be a huge international embarrassment.

I think more horrible is some Bangla fan on ICF defending actions of their fanatics on different pretexts. I don't support these kind of overreactions in any country, be it India as well. And I would say there might be truth in the reports that they mistook WI bus as Bangladesh. But there would not be any excuse for the fact some BD supporters are condoning these acts by fanatics. This is something which Pakistan fans did for long, condoning all indiscretions, and see what has happened in that country.
Just because I didn't hype up this minor incident, doesn't Mean i support it. Very much condemn it. Security forces should have anticipated this. Plus 4-5 teens acting stupid doesn't represent the 25,000 fans that came to the stadium and left in peace.
this is shameful ... f'ing throw the stones at ur own freaking players ... wtf did WI do to deserve this? i guess you guys started to follow the pakistani ways ... good job morons!
Following the Indian way actually, the effigy burning just started.

OOT reaction by most of you. No one is saying it is ok behavior to throw stones at buses, but to equate that in an even remote way to the Pakistani incident of terrorists shooting at these buses with SL cricketers is insane. It is like saying throwing a chappal at a politician (which happens routinely these days since the GWB incident) will lead to or is same as opening a machine gun at that person.

Well players have to use some common sense. Being pelted by stones and fired at by gunmen are two different things and one doesn't mean the other is next. Chris Gayle's comments are just stupid' date=' IMO.[/quote'] Both are legal as per Taliban :P BTW, he was just stating his level of shock, don't take it literally.

Don't want to be rude here but when was the last time we THREW ROCK/STONES/ETC at the oppositions? Effigy burning is something but rocks at the opposition players? COmmn dude ... are you guys trying to take away cricket from your country aswell? Shits happens in matches but this kind of rock throwing is utter NONSENCE! Plus i heard that they also broke Shakibs house or something ... dude by breaking the guys house is not gonna make him perform better ... more like degrade his performance from fear! ... P.S same can be said for pakistan ... "only 4-5 guys were acting stupid with the gun" ... but to a journalist the headline is more like this "COUNTRY's NAME shoots the players"

Bangladesh play England a week from now. The crowds will be expecting a win for the home side after Ireland's surprise win earlier. If things go the usual :fear:

s h i t happens, not to take away from the severity of these actions, but the police cant control 160 million+ people. 1-2 bad apple will always persist.

Just watched the highlights. Man Gayle just ripped into Rubel. May be that got mad at Gayle. I think he was bowling one delivery at 149 kph. (not sure if that reading was accurate).. Gayle just sauntered down the wicket and obliterated it from his presence :haha: I just love Gayle when he gets going with typical west Indian flair. What authority, flourish and style. Only Yuvraj can match that free stroking. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xhd9vq_wibn3_news#from=embed&start=261 watch at 4:20

guys please don't judge us all based on 4-5 peoples action. I urge you to take a look here. I see that I cant post links or message until I have few posts but I really need get this link across to you guys so you all know that we don't support this kind of incident nor we ever will I broke the link up in peices I hope the mods won't mind. Sorry in advance banglacricket com/alochona/showthread.php?t=36216 go into the last couple pages and you will see pictures of fans that went to the WI hotel with flowers and cards asking for forgiveness. We managed to do some damage control even our own cricket board couldn't do that. We are passionate about our cricket and I know I will continue to support my team even if they were to get demoted down to the associate level. Those few that took part in this incident are not real BD fans.

Yes, that was a nice gesture. What I can't understand for some time now, is why BD fans have such unrealistic expectations from their rather ordinary-looking Team ??

Can't really figure out how did Bangladesh had such high expectations to begin with for the world cup. In fact some of the Bangla fans were even calling them favorites over India despite the fact they won only 2 matches out of 20+ they have played against India so far, and one of them was an India B side featuring the likes of Reetinder Sodhi!!! Looking back the only two decent performances Bangladesh has had in the recent past is a series win against Windies when windies had contractual issues and their squad refused to play and the windies had to come up with a squad of 2nd and 3rd stringers who were willing to play. The second decent performance came against a piss poor kiwi side who was also thrashed by an India B side (without Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dhoni, Harbhajan, Zaheer and Gambhir captaining for the first time) 5-0!!! So what was the basis of Bangladesh's expectations in the first place? In fact they had lost to Ireland in both 2003 and 2007 world cups and very nearly lost this time round as well. They can't even beat Ireland consistently and convincingly and they hoped to progress deep in the world cups? I mean it's good to back your team but this level of delusion isn't helping matters at all.
