He is to SA what Sachin is to India . the thing is.. in every world cup he was part of his team was one of the hot favorites. 221 chase... you would take it before the match starts. They do this. Even Bangladesh would have chased that.

One of the worst innings played in a knockout match in '99, a blind slog against McGrath in '07, and a dumb pull shot today. Hard to sympathize with him.

That was a good hit. 9 out of 10 times that isn't caught. Oram was a beast tonight...period.

It was a brain freeze moment - asking rate of 4.5, deflated opposition, sluggish pitch, and a short batting line up. There was absolutely no need for the shot. While watching the Kallis-Smith and Kallis-de Villiers partnership I always felt they were taking too many risks than necessary for such an easy chase. Just a few minutes back, he had miscued a lofted shot off Vettori as well.

Thanks to Vettori's superb captaincy bringing in his slow bowlers and making Oram bowl from a shorter run-up, he used the sluggish conditions very well. Supplemented by some brilliant fielding, Saffers were slowly, but surely, being choked at that point and needed something to change the momentum. Like I said, 9 out of 10 times that ball goes over the ropes.

But it's a team game not a wimbledon championship which can be won with a single player. Last night my pakistani mate told me why he wanted saf to win so that Kallis can have a go at trophy. It really means a lot to win a world cup.

My first thought was it was going over the ropes, Remember Mirpur has the longest boundaries in this world cup. On another ground that was six. The shot played by Duminy was atrocious. And what Captain Smith. When was last time he scored some meaningful run in ODIs. What a terrible shot he played to get out.
