Pioneer Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Once again a huge congratulations to everyone over here, it must be an amazing feeling right now for you guys, deservedly so. One thing I'm sure everyone was watching out for was a couple of clashes or arguments between our players, but surprisingly the game was played in such amazing spirit! It was really great to see and so damn refreshing, there were no " Chal Nikals" or Fingered-salutes, and even though we all love to see some anger and spice on the field, this game really brought a smile to my face. There was aggression, there was competiveness but it was also pretty great to see the players' from the two teams getting on so well with each other. I saw Younis sharing a chuckle with Sehwag, same with Afridi and Tendulkar. Also saw Nehra giving some tight hugs to the Pakistanis at the end of the game, it was a nice change /Gay moment
Manny_Pacquiao Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 you obviously missed munna's little sendoff to hafeez.
yoda Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 It was a welcome change to not see those send offs or over zealous celebrations. I really liked Waqab (sp?), the new left arm seamer and his reactions after taking wickets.
vvvslaxman Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I think Afridi of all the people was surprisingly quiet amidst chaos created by his fielders. May be because those messup were committed by his senior players Misba, Younis, Kaami.
ucilite Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I almost got a feeling that Afridi and the whole team was 'told' to carry themselves in a friendly manner. There was no cursing, or even glaring by the Pakis, which was quite strange to me. Also, Afridi's speech at the end was very dignifying. And to be honest, all of the above was needed. Their performance and attitude in this World Cup will help somewhat in restoring cricket fraternity's trust in them, but they have a long way to go.... all the best for final guys.....
Ustad Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 yeah i saw what munaf did, that wasn't so nicee :(( but all is good..
Gotham Cronie Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 This isn't anything new I believe. We saw on the last tour to India how the players were invited to events with Indian players and everybody was laughing. Also, before World Cup, we saw Dhoni and Afridi having a laugh. It's the delusional hardcore fans who call still call their matches "war" that try to block those images out and think the players hate each other.
gaurav92 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Yes. I was really happy to see the spirit shown by both the teams. Amidst the pressure cooker situation, when the catches were going down, Afridi did manage to afford a smile. It was a great game, although not a close one, but a very well spirited game. Indo-Pak clashes are always filled with aggression, mouthfuls and send offs galore, but surprisingly it wasn't that way today. There was happiness when a wicket fell, but there was no hatred against the opposition. Both teams were really good and should be given 10/10 for fair play :) P.S : Afridi's wishes to India for the Finals, and a congratulations for this game from Afridi at the start of the Presentation did brought a wide smile on my face. He surely is a man full of gamesmanship irrespective of what he does on the field sometimes :winky:
achilles Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Amazing match. Very happy to see Pakistan get through to the semis. The stronger team won. As for Pakistan, Nazar mein rehte ho, jab tum nazar nahi aate :P :isalute: It was a welcome change to not see those send offs or over zealous celebrations. I really liked Waqab (sp?)' date=' the new left arm seamer and his reactions after taking wickets.[/quote'] You didn't watch 'em Munaf & Bhaj :D
Fontaine Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 It was great to see Munaf pumped up and his reactions to those two wickets, especially his 2nd wicket of Razzaq that was such a wonderfully bowled cutter. http://www.moneycontrol.com/news_image_files/munaf-patel.jpg
coffee_rules Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Thought Yuvraj showed Asad the way to the pavilion.
