Imagine after serving jail foir 18 months, he still kept in touch with the dons. Ajay Devgan, Bobby Deol and Sonu Sood should be investigated for their ties to dubious directors. All 3 played Bhagat Singh in different movies. Most fishy thing is more than 3 films based on same topic released in same year - 2002. Also Sanju's parent did lots of charity, some Karma benefit should go to their son.

someone Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Actually forget about the pardon issue, the real question should be why was the sentenced reduced from 6 years to 5 years. Sanjay's defense has always been it's a one mistake so minimum sentence but the reality is he has been caught several times doing wrong so not sure why was the sentenced reduced. Instead of praising the decision for 5 years, we should ask what made the one year reduction. His community services is hardly any good reason. Then, on katju, he should simply be removed and a nutcase. This is not his first time and he has made far more ridiculously statements (eg. Modi) that deserved higher critism. But our media simply is not credible and really has it own bias.

And there are many more cases on how people who had little contribution got a long term. Whereas this person who actually had these arms got just few years. And now he is getting the benefit on being a celeb with many people voicing that he should be pardon. Where is the voices for the other persons? Definitely, being a celeb has helped him rather than complicating his case.

"Governor will use his discretionary power when there will be an appeal to him. He has the power to pardon," said law minister Ashwani Kumar. He, however, refrained from giving his own opinion on it. Information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari said the authorities will take cognizance of the matter at an appropriate level. "Justice Katju has been a very eminent judge of the Supreme Court. Whenever he articulates a position on an issue, people both inside and outside the government listen to it carefully," Tewari told reporters. Tourism minister and film star Chiranjeevi too favoured mercy, saying Dutt, "should get mercy ... if he gets mercy, I will be the most happiest person." Earlier, Justice Katju had appealed to the governor K Sankarnarayan seeking pardon for Dutt on humanitarian grounds under Article 162 of the Constitution after the apex court had upheld his five-year sentence in the 1993 blasts case. However, Raj Bhavan officials in Mumbai said they were yet to receive any official communication in this regard from Justice Katju. Maharashtra home minister R R Patil said that the state government too had not received any application in this regard. "The entire issue was being handled by the centre. I haven't yet read the entire SC judgment," he said. Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan chose not to comment on the issue. Plea for clemency for the film star has been made by some allies of the Congress too. NCP general secretary D P Tripathi made a strong pitch for mercy. "The governor has the right and he should give clemency to Dutt who has not been accused of any involvement in terrorist activities but illegal possession of arms," Tripathi said. Opposition BJP was more cautious. BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said, "Review petition has been allowed to be filed by the SC. Now it is up to Sanjay Dutt whether he wants to file or not. The 2 guys who destroyed the weapons were his friends. 1 Has been convicted for 5 + 2 years under arms act and one for 1 year for destroying the weapons. The last one has served this already. The guys who have been convicted for Life are the alleged D company members who delivered weapons to him from wherever they received it in illegal consignments. They had other history too and knew about other weapons coming for Riots/Blasts allegedly. Don't blabber mindless nonsense.

Read the judgement yourself. Court says there was no link drawn to these weapons or Sanjay dutt knowing about a conspiracy. If he did then it was a TADA case. Supreme court quoted the TADA court in this respect and upheld the judgement rightly in my view. Even under TADA life sentence is not mandatory and he wouldn't have gotten that much more sentence as Parlole has been denied under Arms act.
