Shane Warne interested in national coach job after Kirsten's exit : wrong speculation

No Horny Warne as coach. Warne can stay with RR. I better like the option of Justin Langer as coach as I read something like that a few days ago.

I don't know why BCCI is obsessed with Aussie coaches. I for one don't think Langer would be good for us. Aussies are more assertive that way and wouldn't fit in the scheme of things when it comes to all the politics in our cricket. Gary handled it beautifully, and a behind the scenes coach is what would work for us. In that regard Warne is a huge no-no as well.

I think BCCI would have learnt from Chappel fiasco and dont think will appoint another big ego like Warne as coach.

He hated all those drills by coach that they usually give. There is a reason why Royals had no coach per se. He feels captain is enough.

Thats what - he will become coach and keep telling the captain - you are enough, and this is my job to keep reminding you.

What would a team in India's position now want from a potential coach? There are specific fixes for our bowling and fielding woes. But overall what sort of deliverables would the next coach have at this point in time? What next for Team India - Is there any other goal apart from winning in tests in SA/Aus/Eng and grooming for the next WC campaign?

Warney is a gem of a player, probably the second best Australian to play the game and certainly the best wrist spinner on the world. But being a player is different from being a coach. There have been numerous bad boy cricketers who have been admired and successful but as a coach to young cricketers flush in money, the coach is supposed to be a mentor to not only to sharpen their cricketing skills but also to keep their feet on the ground and encourage a humble attitude. That is where Warney wont be able to do very well.
