Kohli belongs to #3. RD is 38 and shall retire sooner than later. Pujara should be our #6.
IMO it should be the other way round. It is Pujara who belongs to no3 and anyone of Kohli/Yuvi/Raina can make no6 their own.

Kohli for me but it would be unfair to drop Pujara. So I'd let him play at 6 in atleast the first 2 tests in the WI (or maybe the whole series) and see how he goes. Kohli should definitely make the squad as the reserve batsman. No Yuvraj or Raina.

Its no joke to get as high up in odi rankings as Kohli did and still has. He also shows an ability to get tons as well. And looks tecnhically very strong and mentally very strong. Yes its unfair on Pujara but this aint a flippin charity, this is the Indian test team and best muct be picked. Kohli has to play and will be an amzing success

#6 is the last person I would pick in the playing 11 as selecting him depends upon a lot of factors like playing conditions, the form other players are in and the combination I want to use. Considering that Ind is playing away, we are likely to go mostly with 3 seamers and 1 spinner. If I need an additional spinner who could exploit the rough on day 4 and day 5, then I might be tempted to go with someone like Yuvi. On the other hand, if the pitch is green, then either Pujara or Kohli would do fine :nice: W/o knowing some of the factors I mentioned, such discussions are, in a way, pointless. Even in ODIs, in the recent WC, we saw how Dhoni picked the team based on conditions and opposition. And I think that is the right way to go.

am saying rest/drop Dravid ..we need our batsmen in top form for Eng series & I have my doubts on RD ever finding his old form back ...Try Kohli & Pujara & hopefully they will have some runs behind them before playing in English conditions .

Pujara at no. 6. That guy should be persisted with for some time definitely. His innings of 70 + against Australia in fourth innings has happened recently only. After Pujara, next should be Kohli.

Definitely Pujara. We have played musical chairs with the no.6 spot enough times already, in the last 2 years. First we had Yuvraj, then we had Badri, then we bought back Yuvraj, then we had Raina. For the last 2 series, its been Pujara. He has shown enough talent and potential to justify his place in the side. He has had a very rough initiation into test cricket (first series versus Aus at home, 2nd series against South Africa abroad). We need to persist with him and give him time to settle as a player. I feel we have only seen the tip of the iceberg interms of what he is capable of doing for our test side. But for him to fully express himself, he first needs to feel secure in the Indian team. We shouldn’t do the same mistake with Pujara that we did with VVS at the early stages of his career. Kohli makes a compelling case for selection as well. He is equally talented, though with a lot less flair. But he does stand head and shoulders above any of his rivals in the mental toughness parameter, which is probably the most important. But Virat can wait his turn, its only a matter of time before there are at least 2 vacancies in the middle order spot.

I don't know why people would even think about dropping Pujara. his first test he was unlucky in the first inning with a ball that kept low, second inning he played a brilliant counter attacking innings that won us the match and was dissmissed by very good delivry that drifted in and straightened. His 2nd he got out cheaply twice on a pitch where only one batsman scored a 50, but he showed alot of grit and determiniation in both innings. His 3rd test he was dissmissed by one of the best delivries Ive ever seen. To drop him now would be incredibly unfair and it could seriously dent his confidence. Kohli would probably be next in line. And if Rahane and Rohit Sharma keep up their good domestic form it would be hard to over look them as well. Plus their still guys like Badrinath and Vijay hanging around. Its really hard to justify giving yuvi a spot when he's already played 35 matches when the other names I mentioned only played 15 or so test matches combined.

Please not Yuvi,he is a great ODI cricketer but as a test cricketer a big failure. This is a golden chance get Kohli in the test squad along with Pujara, play Pujara 1st ,if he fails then give the chance to Kohli.
