Just commented on the :rr:-:pw: match thread -- If Dhoni was the captain, :pw: would have won the game today. Poor captaincy by UV.

ch1234 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Yuvi is as good as a captain as Inzamam or Afridi.. Leting the things happening and trusting your initial instinctive thoughts.. In the last match (not today's), when they were chasing around 160, Paine wasted a lot of balls in the initial overs and Yuvraj needed some hardhitters to come and up the ante after Paine's dismissial.. But who came at No. 3 is Manish Pandey, who is struggling for form and a run a ball scorer.. Uttahppa or he himself would have been a better choice. THat was plain dumb from Yuvi..
asterix Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I think we shouldn't absolve the Aussie coaches from any blames..There are 2 startegy breaks every innings and the Batting line up is actually fianlised by the Coach in consultation with the captain. Most of the time the captain is involved with the game, and these highly paid coaches are employed to startegise and guide the captain... It's wrong to blame captain for everything..
saneindian Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I wonder why he did not bowl on a pitch aiding so much of spin. The excuse he gave at the post match presentation was lame IMO. "I have to take care of the team and hence am not bowling", what kind of a logic is that. You were the best all rounder of the WC, should be bowling regularly especially on spinning tracks. Same goes for his batting slot too. Should be batting permanently at no 3.

How stressed it is to do so many things toghether especially when someone is a captain. He is not bowling because he is feeling pressure. Suppose, if Dhoni says this for his keeping. Dhoni has been excellent behind the stumps most of the time.
Prakat Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Dhoni uses his keeping job to focus on the current situation and stay in the moment and take the overall pressure of the match off of his mind. It happens only because he enjoys it.
vvvslaxman Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Reason Dhoni is cool is because he just focusses on the process in play. He doesn't worry about results. He doesn't get anxiety about it. He just goes on about his job. If something happens, he tries something else. He keeps trying according to situation without worrying about the result. But guys like Yuvi allow it to get to their head.

ViruRulez Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I always said the same. Dhoni is the best captain we have. Next comes Gauti and Sachin. Sachin too has become good only in recent years with experience. Rest all are quite bad especially UV and Veeru. Both of them are terrible captains. Kohli needs to be tested as I feel he might be a good captain. Zak might be a good captain especially in field setting as he anyways sets the fielding for all Indian fast bowlers are per MSD. Raina is ok but not quite good. MSD is the best of the lot by a country mile though he is not perfect too. As I said previously, if UV was handed the captaincy instead of MSD at that time then our national team might have been in shambles right now. I still remember the cribbing by UV's family on not giving the captaincy to UV and giving it to Dhoni instead. His Dad especially was becoming a Drama Queen on TV at that time and that did not give the best of impressions about his family. To think about self instead of the nation is pathetic to say the least and that was not sporting behavior. However, UV is an awesome asset and he recovered from that in the next few years. So, no problem but I still remember those interviews and get quite pissed off often especially when I see his dad who seems to have got too much ego.

achilles Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Yuvi is obsessed with Jesse Ryder (or used to be). These days, he is just obsessed with losing.
