Cricketics
Okay, he has been scoring decent this IPL for Delhi, but I have always thought that this guy didn't get a proper chance. I remember watching his first innings for India. We were on tour to Sri Lanka in a tri series which involved west indies as the third team. We were in trouble in one of the games, and this guy scored a very gritty 38 run knock. We lost the match, but the way he handled pressure and also faced Murali with ease, proved me that he can really play at the big stage. I would definitely want to see more of him in odi's if Tendulkar and other seniors are going to rest. It's better to give players like him a chance, than giving someone like Sharma who been given plenty of chances already. He's someone who can bat well in the middle overs and anchor the innings. jusarrived
Called him test class from day one , been a huge fan for years ...no kidding , this guy would have avgd 50+ had he started playing for India in his early 20s ..unfortunately for him , he had to compete with the likes of Dravid and Tendulkar . He is a no nonsense player. Reminds me of Dravid a bit for some reason. He always let his bat do the talking. But I believe it's easy to sneak in into our test side than odi side. Pujara hit loads of runs and than he eventually got a chance. I would love to, yes i would really want to see him part of test 11 in near future. Link to comment
Sir john
i remember he hit a flat six on on side to a lankan bowlers on his 38 runs inning, Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
Decent player but I would have Badrinath in the team before him. Link to comment
Sooda
Dont you know consistent domestic performers are not anymore rewarded with senior call ups. Contenders have to be a) 24 years of age and below and b) have played for the U19 side, ideally in a WC winning one. On a more serious note, an FC average of 42 suggests there are a few better options. Link to comment
fineleg
Decent player but I would have Badrinath in the team before him. Agree. Venu Rao is a decent batsman and hopefully will get into Indian team, but first Badri is ahead of him in the pecking order. Link to comment
CoverDrive
i remember him being ridiculed for not being able to play shots when he played in odis. He was good against spin but struggled against pace. He probably missed his place as he was not very confident and could not perform. Link to comment
The Dark Horse
He, along with Badri put a 200 run partnership to sink England A in Duleep trophy. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/story/137053.html But then people will term the bowling attack as mediocre:giggle: Link to comment
achilles
He's been doing well atleast in IPLs from what I've known. But there is a big probability that he will be preferred ahead of players who can't play short balls. Link to comment

Chasing 500 plus in the 4th innings. Simon jones, Sajid mahmood played for England. Link to comment
sandeep
anybody named YALAKKKAAAA!! should automatically be in the team. Other teams will be intimidated just by his name when he walks in. Its like having rajnikanth in your team - and is it just me or he kinda looks like him as well. YALAKAAA! Link to comment
Midfielder
Venu should get a chance too. Ahead of Robin and Rohit maybe not Badri. Link to comment
sarcastic
I heard a statement from media/opposition teams that: "No Target is SAFE when VenuGopala Rao is around!!!" The chase of 500 odd vs England A is an example for the same!!!!!! Link to comment

Blueraphael
He is really good but seems to be missing just that X factor, I supppose. Kind of player who is always there in the fringes but is never quite a serious candidate. Link to comment
