desi pride 1234 and deepak_sach, consider that you are on your last lifeline on this site. If I see anymore juvenile attacks on any posters' nationality, you are out. And just to let you know that after the server move there is some problem in handing out temporary bans.

India's main problem is always tall lanky bowlers who hit the ball on or around the off stump not yorker specialists as they are very strong off the pads.
Curtly Ambrose averages 38.26 against India while his career average was 20.99

Waqar was a great bowler but not at his best against India in that tour of 1999 and I feel he was still not past his prime. Though it would have been interesting to see him play in early to mid 90s ...same can be said for Wasim but he was much clever bowler who didn't entirely rely on pace and swing. I wouldn't say India tamed Waqar but rather Waqar didn't live up to his expectation against India

I remember when Waqar was in his prime, Ravi Shastri had said (presuambly to a question asked to him about Waqar) that "bring him to India and we will smash him" That's been happening to Waqar against India whether its Dravid taking 29 runs of his over in Toronto or Jadeja giving him a smack at B'lore or Tendulkar's assult at Jo'berg .... didn't play too many tests against Ind but had a full series in 1999 PS what probably didn't work for him is that he likes to bowl a comparitively fuller length (trying to swing/reverse/york) but Indians love it when the ball is pitched up to them :P

I already mentioned that he averages 33 against the best team during that time. It is clear that though he was not his best during that time, he was still a good bowler (He averages 23.56 from 1998-2003)
This stat, Waqar's average against India, is as misleading as Sachin's average against Pakistan when both Waqar and Wasim played. Later stat is used by some posters to show that Sachin wasn't comfortable against fast bowling of 2 W' in similar way as you suggest that Waqar wasn't ood against india bowlers. Fact is both of these stats are based on a set of 4 test matches which is hardly a good enough sample size to judge a player, if scattered over a long period of time. Secondly 2 of these 4 test matches came in debut series for both Waqar and Sachin, and you really don't expect players to perform at best in their debut series. This leaves you with 2 test matches and one bad umpiring decision or any other stroke of bad luck can spoil your stats. My whole point is that based on these stats I can't say Indians had tamed Waqar.

Slightly off the topic. I still remember 1992 QF. I think it was Ramiz Raza or whoever but definitely Pakistani commentator, Somewhere after over number 40 during Indian inning. He was extrapolating how many overs Waqar and Aaqib has left between them. Indian scroring rate wont go beyond 5 runs against them. And even India scores 7-8 runs per over now India will score around 230....

:hysterical::haha::hysterical::haha:Ramiz Raja was playing in that world cup not commentating

pawned... Take out Ramiz Raja. I dont distinctly rememebr the name of that Pakistani commentator. But i remeber the content
do you mean the 96 world cup? because the 92 world cup didnt have QFs. and we certainly didnt meet Pakistan at that stage. Not to mention Ramiz playing and hence could not be a commentator If 96, the commentator could have been Imran Khan.

Whoever it was. He gave no chnace to us against Waqar. I think 4-5 run rate was part of his calcultation because he thought Aqib will give more runs then Waqar
