Let's look at the bowlers selected in the squad: Wkt takers ----> Zak and Sree Back up to support the wkt takers ----> Ishant Stock bowlers (in case of injury to the other seamers and to bowl in the nets) ----> PK and Munaf Spinners ----> Bhajji (dart thrower) and Mishra (not doing well currently) Of the options available, Ind goes in with: 1 - Wkt taker 1 - Back up 1 - Stock 1- dart thrower, who happens to be a spinner This is test, you need to pack as many wkt takers as possible, despite having Sree, who can pick up wkts, if you pack your side with a back up, a stock and a dart thrower, hoping that Zak would run through the side then it is asking for trouble, and which is why the thread came up :winky:

PK has an average of less than 24 on flat Indian wickets in FC cricket and his avg is way better than Ishant and Sreesanth. How do you explain that ? I admit before this game, I didnt rate him highly but he has been the only bowler who bowled well for India in this game and he has done a superb job. Just goes to show you dont need express pace or have to be a giant to get wickets. Zaheer is a great example for that.

Horses for courses dude, perfect conditions for swing bowling yesterday and Praveen's selection was a no-brainer. Sreesanth's mediocre bowling against Somerset made things too easier for Dhoni.

zen Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 Shows how badly Ishant and Bhajji have bowled .... If someone like PK can pick up 3 wkts, good bowling sides would probably have bundled Eng out for around 300 :hysterical:
