Extra Baggage on this tour

Yeah' date=' drop Raina after one innings and bring back Kohli who failed in the WI/Rohit who has never played a test/Pujara who is in a cast.[/quote'] I know Raina had recent success and Yuvraj edging to comeback, but they arent built for Test kirkut as well as the kohlis, rohits and pujaras. The latter three would outclass once they find their feet at this level.

No replacements are coming at this point in time. Perhaps there could be a replacement for Zak but considering this is a hamstring injury he should be up and running in 2 weeks time. We are an intolerant bunch, Indian fans want their batsmen to score a hundred each time, bowlers to pick up 5 fers each time and win the test by a canter. This is not going to happen, get over it. England at home is a fairly decent outfit and India as usual needs a test match to start warming up. I think you will see India doing well from the 2nd test on. If they can get away unscathed in the first test, they will play much better cricket through out the tour.

No ones being intolerant here....No one would have been this mad if Zak would have bowled 40 overs in the 1st innings and picked up only 1-2 wickets but him getting injured in the 1st session of a test is painful to watch and I blame the team that is employed to give him clearence and obviously Zak himself because I don't buy the fact that he did not know how fit he was before opting to play. Sreeshanth who was in such amazing test match form 6 months back and was a certainty to play in the starting line up turns up like a fat cow in a crucial tour Uncertanity over Sehwag's availability cmon don't the doctors and physians working on his rehabilitation know his status???How unprofessional can it get Ishanth who finally looked a reformed bowler goes back and repeats the same mistakes that was his downfall in the last year or so Harbhajan singh-enough said Time and time again selecting tired and tested failures Munna,Mishra and Yuvraj No one blames SRT,Gambhir or Laxman and to some extent Raina because we do understand some failures at this level is inevitable but the above scenarios can easily be avoided or is our own doing No one blames Mukund or PK because they raised their game and proved a lot of detractors wrong

This is not the tour to allow players to find their feet. Raina deserves atleast 2 tests.

I dont understand how Ishant and Mishra are extra baggage. Really? You gonna write off our main Pace bowler like that after one innings? Mishra is capable of producing more revolutions than dartbhajan. Bhaji should be dropped dude. Also Zaheer and Sehwag are setting a bad example. Wtf was he doing during the windies tour. He shouldve been training to stay fit. If surgery was needed...why prolong it by captaining in IPL??? Pathetic..

Fully agree. He was superb in the Windies but he does not inspire me with confidence at 6. I'm gutted Pujara got injured, i fully believe he will be a future batting stalwart for India.

Ojha has done well every time he played for India in tests. Check the stats if you wish. Unfortunate that he should be sidelined. I feel the reason they did that is because he was a threat to Bhajji and instead promoted Mishra who is a leggie and therefore will always be a second choice to Bhajji. I feel Ojha is the best spinner in India at the moment. Sreesanth as erratic and frustrating he may be, he is still the best pace bowler apart from Zaheer.

Wonder what is your reaction after Ishant's showing yesterday? You need to first figure if failing in a single test series is a failure after all? Munaf, Mishra and Yuvi have not played heck a lot of test matches. Although they are supposed to know how to user their skills in test cricket it will take time for them to figure how best to use it. You need to allow time but knowing the Indian fans a loss is like a catastrophe, a player not performing in a game or two is a baggage. This is something that won't quite change unfortunately.

we still havent lost this test, we certainly havent lost the series; i have no idea what are you upset about. Why we risked zaheer ? well its the not first time a unfit player took the field , its happened in past and will happen in future. what else poor team selection do name which bowler could we have played, pathan, rp, lets not even talk about the yadav and that new fast bowler.

The only player I know who gets screwed is Murali Karthick, great guy, great player and knew the conditions well. I have no idea why they keep on over looking him. Everyone else deserves a place and it a very fair team.

All right...Ishanth agreed and ...I am not a fairweather fan but when I call a player extra baggage it is based on 2 things no matter how great a player is if he is in the squad based on reputation and not a full 100% either fit or in form,he is a baggage eg;Harbhajan,Sreeshanth,Zaheer,Sehwag or he is tried and tested failure eg;Munaf,Yuvraj,Mishra...All the mentioned players her don't give full confidence when replacing someone in the starting 11... Someone like Mukund or even PK will not be or is included in this list even if he fails in the next 2 tests because a)he is fully fit and 2)he is not a proven failure yet I did criticise PK in one of the other thread because of his pace but he did well and even if he had failed,he falls in the Mukund category as he is not a proven failure and hence not a baggage as he is a good stock option. The extra baggage list was based on players who do not give any confidence as players in the starting x1 or replacements or neither are they unknown commodity whom we are anxious to see how good they are. Dhoni might soon turn into one at the rate he is performing at the moment with gloves, bat and captaincy.

No we haven't lost the test but we were put in jeporady due to the inept people who gave him clearence in the fast place and zaheer himself as a player of his stature should have known better. Just because we don't have adequate replacements doesn't mean we play an injured player....now not only are we a bowler short(since it is Zaheer make that 2) but in the current circumstances we could have a player short if it comes down to the tail playing for a draw. Well we have 2 other fast bowlers who are present in the squad Munaf and Sreeshanth,so are we saying that they are so useless that we risk a half-fit player rather than playing them.Hence the 2 above mentioned qualified in the baggage list automatically.

Because they have all come as an extra baggage on this tour. I am sure they didn't want to be here, but majboori ka naam Mahatma Gandhi.
