After three heavy defeats, India require victory at The Oval to avoid a series whitewash. But Flintoff described the stark contrast between the teams as they warmed up. "I've not seen much of the summer, and this morning I watched the two sides warming up," he said. "I saw India, and they looked like they'd got their kit out of the garage. They were all in different gear. England looked really professional next to them. They just looked poles apart," he told BBC Test Match Special. Flintoff, who took 226 Test wickets and scored 3,845 runs, said he felt sorry for his former England coach Duncan Fletcher, who took over the India job in June. "Watching the slip catching practise, you had England on one side diving around, the ball fizzing through," he added. "I used to do it with Duncan Fletcher. I bet you he's tearing his hair out. "They were clapping everything down: the keeper was missing them, the slips were dropping them. It just looked shabby." Flintoff, who struggled with his weight during the early part of his career, said England looked by far the fitter team, joking that some of the India players were "popping out of their shirts". The disparity between the teams was equally evident during Thursday's action, with England's openers effortlessly reaching 75-0, batting in overcast conditions, before rain curtailed play at lunch on the first day. The performance does not bode well for an India side that were beaten by an innings and 242 runs at Edgbaston, and have yet to reach 300 in six innings this series.

Looking at their body language, they are not enjoying Test match cricket.. Why? Because they get easy monies playing chaddi & pyjama cricket.. Just wait for a hiding in ODI series too.. Anna Hazare should sit on Dharna in front of the BCCI office once he's done with the Janlokpal bill protests.. "Aage barho Anna, Indian Circket Fans tumhare saath hain"..

The same guy who struggled with weight issues, was constantly injured, who had to be rescued from a pedalo because he was drunk DURING a world cup, is the same guy who is somehow now all of a sudden a voice of authority on judging the fitness/preperation of others. Didn't this fatboy get white washed 5-0 in his last series as captain?

The guy was well known for sleeping in the dressing room FFS. These guys are now judging others on preperation/drills/training and fitness? Seriously? What a bunch of hypocrites.

Also whilst you say these things about flintoff somehow not being qualified you have to remember he was a safe as houses slip fielder...

Didn't this fatboy get white washed 5-0 in his last series as captain? :giggle: The "Fat Slogger" got mullered in Aus, did not have a clue what to do apart from drink even more. Just grow up hes right.... so what if he did wrong in his time..hes talking about india which so should we,if we was winning then yes have a go at him,we are playing like the worst cricket i have seen in over 20 years,we deserve all the critical reports we deserve all the cussing, whats everyones saying is right,have a go at the players for not even fighting,feck,i hate losing,but if your gonna lose fight till the very end and with all your heart....no wonder everyones saying money making competitions are the reason the players are like the way they are!!!

But recently they were able to bounce back nicely after defeats. Part of the lack of enthusiasm can be attributed to pummelling they got in the first 3 tests. I think they have accepted that they are a far inferior team to England. India always depends few individuals to kick start for them. This time nobody did that. With that kind of thinking it is not surprising they are lethargic. It is a nightmare. A reasonably rookie SL team did far better than us.

Laxman and Sachin have failed, so we have lost. we DONT have the bowlers to win a single test match. just looking at RP and Sree's face makes me wanna spit on them and freaking hang them up... this is not how you play for your Country. specially RP singh... ***ing piece of shiit.. he couldnt do anything... its a DISGRACE to have such a player in our lineup.

They expected a good contest. Instead of that they had to see a team which accepts the defeat right from the start of the match. With this kind of attitude, I would put this test team next to Bangladesh. WI will tour England later. Even though they are going through all sort of troubles, you would see at least enthusiasm and good attitude towards the game.

This was supposed to be the marquee series, but due to India's pathetic performance, they have denied fans a chance to see a competitive series. This Indian team has given us lots of moments to cheer about in the last few years, but this performance has really disappointed all those fans who were waiting for this series. And with this kind of attitude they are not going anywhere. I still have faith in this team, so I hope they get themselves up for the ODI series and play like true world champions.

I watched the Eng team out here last year and the thing that struck me most was their professionalism. They were sharp in the field, hurried to their positions and were ready to go. They were well prepared and well organised. As several other posters have pointed out, the truth hurts. Don't shoot the messenger
