ganeshran Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 St Stephens is a great college in DU, produced some great minds. But most of it are run of the mill colleges.
urbestfriend Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 ISB - Indian school of Business, hyderabad IIIT -Indian institute of information technology SPA-School of planning and architecture CEPT- Centre for Environment and planning SPJIMR Sir JJ college of architecture
Clarke Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Ganesh, i'm not sure of DRDO, that's one famous bureaucracy. ISRO is world class for sure. On similar lines, does anyone follow the research/contributions of BARC & TIFR ?
yoda Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Looks like people are listing every fecking college they have heard of. JJ College of architecture? WTF! :hahaha:
urbestfriend Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Looks like people are listing every fecking college they have heard of. JJ College of architecture? WTF! :hahaha: If you are dumb, world is not! Do some research.

On similar lines, does anyone follow the research/contributions of BARC & TIFR ? Ya lot of bureaucracy there, but they have done some inventions as well. The Jaipur Leg was invented or improvised by them IIRC
yoda Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 If you are dumb' date=' world is not! Do some research.[/quote'] Honestly, never heard of them before. I stand corrected. BTW, their admissions process seems to be via local maharashtra based testing as opposed to AIEEE, wonder how many top students they get via this process.
Mariyam Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 How does one define world class? Top 1% in its given field? Funny that JJ school of architecture is mentioned, but the JJ school of arts isn't. Some of the world class institutions that I can think of 1) Government Law College :proud: 2) ILS, Pune 3) NLSIU, Bangalore 4) JJ School of Arts 5) Missionaries of Charity 6) SDIPA (serious) 7) Indian Railways - probably the best in their field considering the sheer volume of goods and people transported. 8) SPARC India ( arguable) 9) BHEL 10) Indian Democracy ( if it can be classified as an institution) 11) BSE 12) ICAR
flamy Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 HDFC Bank. Amul Co-op. Infosys. Jet Airways. yesssssssssss
pinkfreud Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Don't know about world class, but the best in India imo: Indian Railways BEST Central Cottage Industries Emporium/ Cottage Industries Corp. of India Ltd. (I'm serious) Tata Wipro Navdanya SAIL Indian Oil Corporation
Clarke Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Indian Railways is by no means world class. Its not about bullet trains/maglevs but fundamental necessities like safety, hygiene, punctuality among others that are below par. Indian Democracy ( if it can be classified as an institution) Not all of it, some bodies such as EC, maybe the office of the CAG and so on. Thinking about you lawyers, the Supreme Court comes to mind.
