This is an eye opener. You want to hack into cloud computing systems? Make sure to catch the rain drops when it rains and then save the data in a mobile battery. This is revolutionary.
it is raining here as I type.out with my balti to catch Sachin's bank details

:fail: Just put your batteries directly in the rain.. why waste time collecting rain in balti.

Lot of doubts over technology which has not been proved 100%, biometric is still error prone Too much money spent on issuing card Unless there is 50%-60% enforcement of the card, it becomes useless as any other card. It has to be make compulsory for this card to be any useful , which is very difficult in country like India where majority are illiterates and villagers where the technology to use this card is not available
The idea is that in a few years, 5 I believe, the UID would be necessary to open a bank account. Get a commercial registration etc. So, it will more or less be a mandatory document. I didn't quite follow when you said the villagers and/or illiterate and don't have the technology to use the card? The card just provides a number which corresponds to a central number in a database where your other details are stored. There isn't much tech into play in the UID card that comes to you. Edit: Yes, UR BF, you didn't say villagers are illiterate. I misunderstood what you typed out there. My bad.

I never said villagers are illiterates as I consider myself as a villager. What I meant there is huge illiterate population in the country and it would be very difficult to make the card mandatory for everything. I'm sure political class will interfere and ensure that you can get your work done even without UID,which itself defeats the purpose of UID Now as far as technology is considered, once you have the card, you need to have a card reader which reads the data and fetches the data from the central server. If we make it mandatory for bank account, ration card or registration, government will have to ensure that technology is available in rural part of India which itslef is going to take some time.
