India's future of fast bowling looks bright but we need to give proper chance & nurture those talents

Ishant Sharma,Umesh Yadav,Varun Aaron,Abu Nechim,Shami Ahmed all these bowlers are young & most importantly quick.All can bowl upto 145kph & first 3 can even bowl upto 150kph.I'm quite hopeful for Rahul Shukla as I've seen him bowl in the nets of Eden Gardens & believe me he's the quickest of them all.He'll play Ranji for Jharkhand this season.There is also Sudeep Tyagi,Pawan Suyal & Pritam Das who are bright prospects.I feel Abu Nechim should've been in the Challenger Trophy squads.Mithun was the quickest bowler in the challenger who didn't bowl a single delivery above 140kph,138kph was his fastest so Abu should've been there after impressive performance in CLT20. I feel he could've been in the Indian Squad in place of Arvind.Anyway I'm glad to see Umesh & Aaron in the squad & our fast bowling future looks really bright.

Well we would need good supply of decent bowlers as our batting will become weaker when trio retires in Test. So it has to compensated by bowling.

Speed is basic requirement for pacers. Future will be bright only if these bowlers actually bowl well.

It will naturally become weaker but i believe that India will always produce great batsman. No other cricket playing country loves batting as much as the Indian's and no other country has such a great disparity between the number of bowling and batting icons that India does. The batsman India produces may not be as good as Tendulkar (almost certain they won't be) but India will continue to produce talent.

/\ Lets stick to fast bowling in this thread. I think the key would be how these young bowlers are handled. If they are given a few matches, it would do their confidence a whole lot of good . If we can just have a pool of bowlers and we keep rotating them, we'll have no issues in the pace bowling deptt. However, having seen the Indian selectors and captains choices, I am not too sure !

What these young pacers need is an encouragement to go flat out and bowl at their fastest when they play. Once they have pace, getting other skills would be comparatively easier. However if at an early stage, the focus is too much on learning the skills like swing, slower ones, yorkers etc, gaining pace at a later stage of the career would be nearly impossible. Another thing that these youngsters need to take care of is their own fitness and becoming more aware about their bodies and how to take care of it after bowling 20 overs in a day on flat pattas. Unfortunately, not every Ranji team in India has got great bowling coaches or physios, which makes it difficult for these youngsters from remote corners (and without too much awareness) to know about dietary requirements and strengthening exercises. But with IPL money and ever expanding media, it should not be very difficult for these players to get access to the experts. Hopefully the new blueprint that Kumble is working on to make the NCA more efficient and tuned to our future needs, will address the lack and development of pacers as the major area of focus for the NCA and address the concerns.

But we havent tried any of the new talents. All that the team mgt has gone ahead are the trundlers, VK , PK and co...Apart from Yadav day before yesterday, I dont recall any young lad with pace being given a chance !

With bowlers like Aravind and VK in our squad and guys like Sreesanth and RP as backup, our bowling future looks bright? All I can do is :facepalm:

there should be reservation for these guys. one 140+ plus guy for each state team. with the amount of money cricket has it shouldn't be hard to maintain these folks. all it need is some will on the part of state boards.

our bowlers unfortunately takes lot longer than other bowlers. Someone opened a thread "Ishant has turned a corner" after he mauled the pathetic C grade west Indian batsmen. We all saw how he was stuck in the corner in England. You can't blame them. We have to accept the fact that they are not as talented as we rate them. They are average, below average. Every single fast bowler we have apart from Zaheer.
