timing and range of strokes. Look at Laxman, Yuvraj, Sehwag. Gambhir's timing is a lot inferior to them. I am not counting mental aspect of the game in talent. Gambhir is pretty good in that.

:cantstop: Depends what you mean by talent.. Is it so easy to walk towards pace bowler and smack thim through covers or midwicket. Gambhir and Vinayk Mane were highly rated talents even when they were in their junior years. Mane never went on to do big things. Gauti did.

Am I the only one here who wants us to stop hyping this kid up so much He's a gifted player but he still has a lot of rough edges to smooth out and first class cricket is the perfect arena for him to do that Bring him into India A which give him experience on overseas pitches but he needs at least a year or two of first class cricket before coming into the side

I can understand the apprehensions,but will our first class system really help him to understand the limits in his technique,Badrinath averaged over 60 for years in domestic cricket,but international cricket totally exposed him.Im not saying that he must be fast tracked right away,but he must remain in the scheme of things for rhe senior team

India A and FC is the way forward for Chand IMO

Loose technique or not, he has 3, 100s in australia against two good bowling sides in Aus and England. Technique is not everything. Technique can always be worked. These are the years of development for him. For me, he is the best talent for us I have seen after SRT at this age. How he improves ahead is another thing. Sehwag was a failure at u19 wc.

Some might go down. Some might grow exponentially.

Gambir times the ball well and his strokeplay is good add to that some classy strokes like playing inside out strokes and your judgement fall flat.

That I agree. Now are their real development years. Next 2-3 years. PCA has banned players U21 playing from IPL. All associations should do this so these youngsters are not ditracted by IPL charm.

Don't think he has a loose technique, imo he is technically sound, but needs to improve on his shot selection, tends to play loose flashy Sehwagish shots every now and then, needs to cut those down. He's a fine player.

i think he will do fine in odis needs to improve on technique for tests but well there are always players like kp also do u think kohli has tight technique ? its all about knowing ur limitations and developing game plan which works with it and he seems to me smart guy i will back him to do well in future :--D
