I mean common, isn't there a saying that if you wanna beat an opponent, beat them when they are at their best. If England is the best in their home, we have to beat them there and show who's better. This doesn't count as 100% revenge.

This series has done a lot of good thing for Indian cricket. Has restored lost belief and confidence to the team after a torrid summer in England. The performances of yadav Aaron Jadeja Ashwin have all been highly encouraging for future ODI team.And other plenty of positives as well as regardless of revenge series or not. Fair enough if u only care about Test.Thats ur choice but that doesnt mean u had to whinge an thumping ODI series by India doesnt matter.There are plenty of fans here who care about both ODI and test and just because u dont care about ODI doesnt mean it shouldnt be cherished.

When India lost, all swords were drawn and they were calling for heads but when England lost, its just one of those things that happens all the time. They're saying India didnt do anything great by beating England at home but when England won at home, they are awesome.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 yawn. why do people insist on downplaying india's odi success by bringing up the one test series they lost in 3 years? its a known fact that india's test side is in transition. lot of old players, injury prone bowlers, etc. its going to take at least another year before india can think about retaining the number 1 ranking. the test team is in decline. the odis are different. lots of youngsters coming in, finding their feet quickly and making an impact. a 5-0 vs england at home isnt a bad achievement considering they lost 3-0 in england a few months ago. yes, you can talk about the rain, but let's not make excuses. india werent good enough. this 5-0 shows us that changes are being made, fielding has improved by miles, bowling has improved, the batting as strong as ever. a series win at home isn't something you can take for granted, remember australia won 2-4 here in 2007 and 2009. india might not be top of the rankings in odis, but they are the best odi side in the world.

Hope I'm wrong. I think the main reason why many viewers consider this a revenge series is because of the cockiness and hostility that the England team, fans and commentators showed after beating us and becoming no.1 in tests. I used to ask myself why Indian fans are so boastful as compared to Australian fans whose team has achieved way more but after seeing England fans I don't think we're that bad lol.

Hope I'm wrong. ol. australia arent anywhere near as good as england. i dont think the batsmen will repeat their crap performances in england - they are too professional to do that. the issue is with the bowling. ishant's ankle might fall off and india could be left with a very inexperienced bowling attack. series win will be really dificult to do. but in the odis, india shouldn't have any problems beating australia.

MCcricket Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 There is no denying India can learn a lot from England , Australia ,as far as identifying , grooming , nurturing , young players, If they are good enough giving them a go.We do not have a system , chain of command , communication channel , from u 16 , u 19 , u 21, Ranji, mediocre players seem to thrive at state level , talent is wasted.Selectors and Captain are not good at picking the right players and try to play it safe all the time, if we were not hampered with injuries, ALL THE YOUNG PLAYERS WOULD STILL BE WAITING IN THE WINGS ,SAD CASE OF GONY, DINDA, TYAGI, VRV,ROHIT.

Eg- Ponting's team lost 10 wickets in a day in Bombay when they played Dravid's India in a test. He convinced Rahul into complaining. But that didn't change the result.
