WC2011INDIA Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I have to agree that Delhi is not very safe city. The people are not as friendly as they used to be. Too many gundas and mawalis have ruined the city.
akshayxyz Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Yeah :hehe: ran out of adrenaline :phehehe:
Desi Cartman Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Booked my tickets to New Delhi but cancelled at the last minute exactly because of this reason. 10, 000 INR down the drain. Oh well. excellent, I am sure you would have gone out to eat paranthas at 3 am and then argued with local goons .. good decision to avoid the city altogether :two_thumbs_up:
suraj Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Booked my tickets to New Delhi but cancelled at the last minute exactly because of this reason. 10, 000 INR down the drain. Oh well. Yes better to be safe with your skin in the Aussie land than be 1 of the millions to 1. eat parantha 2. @ 3 AM 3. insist to be served first despite drunk goons asking for it Great decision:two_thumbs_up: only sky diving is a little riskier than this decision
amiret Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Shocking indeed if it is true! I am amazed that no passerby came to help. I thought Indians were different and never hesitate to offer help in such situations. At least I feel this wont happen in a city like Bangalore.

Anonymous Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 You mean the politicians They are retarded by default, but I meant the typical idiots (those that Varun mentioned) that are fast eclipsing even the rednecks.
CSK Fan Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Booked my tickets to New Delhi but cancelled at the last minute exactly because of this reason. 10, 000 INR down the drain. Oh well. Dude didnt you read the part about the main culprit being a graduate from Australia?
Mariyam Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Dude didnt you read the part about the main culprit being a graduate from Australia? That explains it!!! Beating up random people ( especially other students) is an important part of the curriculum at all Australian Universities, irrespective of the branch/stream you choose. Maybe this was a part of his summer project/internship? :hmmm:
EnterTheVoid Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Dude didnt you read the part about the main culprit being a graduate from Australia? Err, this incident is irrelevant to me not going to New Delhi. Circumstances were different than.
coffee_rules Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Booked my tickets to New Delhi but cancelled at the last minute exactly because of this reason. 10, 000 INR down the drain. Oh well. Are you j/k ?
Ram Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Sorry to hear this, but what the eff does his/her degree got to do with any of this? If say an uneducated, village person got killed, this will not be news then?

EnterTheVoid Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 "Exactly this reason" is a mistake on my part, its not exactly correct  Long story short, I was advised against going. Don't want to go into what happened.
achilles Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Shameful. Delhi has the worst reputation amongst all Indian cities. People can goto the extent of murdering each other over a scratch on their cars and then, go underground, do jugaad and the parents of Bobby beta bail them out.

If say the Btech guy got killed over a plate of idli/hakka noodles and not parantha, would this not be news then? :P Citing the deceased's age, occupation (here he was a student) and cause of death ( unless the cops want to hold it back for the sake of the investigation) are permissible according to the Press Council of India
Ram Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Citing the deceased's age, occupation (here he was a student) and cause of death ( unless the cops want to hold it back for the sake of the investigation) are permissible according to the Press Council of India. What relevance does the person's educational qualification hold to the story here? They could have so easily called it - 'Youth assaulted by 2 men' or something like that. Eaxctly!!! What the eff has the dish got to do with any of this? If say the Btech guy got killed over a plate of idli/hakka noodles and not parantha, would this not be news then? :P Well. if the story was around a dosa/idly and it hadnt been news, I'd have bought the whole house down. :P
ravishingravi Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 What relevance does the person's educational qualification hold to the story here? They could have so easily called it - 'Youth assaulted by 2 men' or something like that. See it all the time. For nation obsessed with degrees and what it considers "education", maybe it shouldn't come as a surprise. It is justified considering Indian mindset. If you come across headline "IITian rapes a 15 year old girl" or some such sh@#, I bet in most Indian households would be "How can IITian do it" or "Even IITs are no longer good enough", only to miss out on the small detail of the girl who was raped. As though IIT should have tempered his libido.
