Bambai doesn't have Bangalore chicks, coz Bangalore chicks are in Bangalore. There got to be some financial capital of any country and in this case, it is Mumbai. So it is natural that many people will move to that place to earn some extra money. That doesn't mean, that it will make that place best for living. According to your assumption, even here Chandigarh, we have so many people of so many communities and in fact many are from across the border, Tibet and some Pakistanis here as well. What about Delhi, where people move from all over north, east and central India. Bheed-Bhadaka can never be counted as a factor for the best city. A best city should have enough facilities and at the same time 'shanti' as well You're misinterpreting my point. Its not about Mumbai exclusively. I cited Delhi too. See the very paragraph you quoted. Also, we are not talking about the 'best Indian city for living' the thread is titled 'Best Indian city'. Fact is, that people from all walks of life migrate to metros in search of a better life. The educated, the unskilled, just about everyone. Its the pull of opportunity. Where as in the case of , say Pune, its just a certain segment- IT crowd these days who migrates. Is it really fair to compare cities which are taking in migrants by the hour, employing them by and large to a Vienna which has a near static population which is comparable to a large suburb of Mumbai/ Delhi. That means that the only economic criteria that matters, GDP/area for NYC is half that of Mumbai. Hence, Mumbai > NYC q.e.d

But that is still too early for nightwatchmen like me. Cant do anything when at about 1-2am you get this sudden urge to have drinks, snacks, icecream etc. Mumbai is the most lively Indian city, closest to international standards.

We all know, Mumbai has lots of talent. But, here the point is, a city which might not be a metro but where life is absolutely smooth and well balanced. And living standard is also high. Not too much hush-hush and some other factors as well which you have told in 10 points. Its not about BIG, BIG, BIG. Big infrastructure, big size, bigger ability to accommodate or big money. Its actually can be a smaller city with all the facilities like better natural, economic and social enviroment and education and health structure as well.

There's a small anecdote that I'll share here. A friend of mine works/stays in Mumbai and her husband is doing some business in Bangalore (temporarily). So she flies there every time she gets 3-4 days off. After one such trip, her husband dropped her off to Bangalore airport. Afternoon time, mind you. And she had a very uneventful flight. Took a cab and reached her home (Walkeshwar). So thats an hour of cab ride in addition too 1.5 hours of flight and 30 odd mins at the airport. She calls up her husband to inform that she had reached home, and he's still in his car, on his way back from the airport. I kid you not. Namma namma indeed. Ask your friend to hire Private investigator...:winky:
