Hell Raiser Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I would definitely go with both Ojha and AShwin then pick your best 4 bowlers. +1
rkt.india Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I would definitely go with both Ojha and AShwin then pick your best 4 bowlers. Our best bowler just went for around 6 an over. Need to call fast bowlers, cannot win or even draw if we play spinners here. Likes of Dinda, Gony, Nechim, can easily fill that place.
saneindian Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 ^ Gony injured. Expect Sudhindra or Pankaj Singh or even Unadkat.
deathmonger Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 ^ Gony injured. Expect Sudhindra or Pankaj Singh or even Unadkat. pathan will get the call.

Within the constraints who would you pick from the current squad?
BeautifulGame Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Good to see Umesh Yadav bowling well. And Mithun seems to have bowled much better than Vinay Kumar.

Within the constraints who would you pick from the current squad? Still more than 10 days for first test and they can call replacement or standbys easily. Though I would play Wheenie as we will most likely get seaming pitches in test series rather than a flat one like today.
Karan114 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Zak was always going to be a severe fitness concern (and not helped by him missing this game) so Ishant's potential injury could be a real body blow to the Indian campaign even before it has started. Whatever the Aussie batsmen's recent struggles, they will be relishing the chance of facing Vinay Kumar, Mithun and an inexperienced spinner on Boxing Day.
G_B_ Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 i dont know what else the BCCI can do? He bowled a good quota in the WI series. Went ahead to aus on the 8th of December and skipped the ODIs In that time he has been bowling in the nets in front of the rest of the staff in the nets at Sachin and Laxman etc. If he breaks down now me thinks its time to axe Ishant from indian cricket. Cause you get injured potentially bowling 6 overs after a long rest under the supervision of some senior players then your a liability.

Cause you get injured potentially bowling 6 overs after a long rest under the supervision of some senior players then your a liability. Fair point but unlikely to happen. Anyway, I hope they call up reinforcements immediately. This "Ishant was only scheduled to bowl 6 overs today" thing from the Indian camp is total rubbish.
BeautifulGame Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Taking the new ball on a sleepy surface at Manuka Oval, Ishant went off the field twice in the space of his brief spell, and after his second exit midway through his sixth over, did not return. An Indian team official explained that Ishant had only planned to deliver six overs for the day, and when his ankle strapping came loose before it was concluded, he felt no need to return. Ishant was seen on the field later, but only to help run the drinks. As a tall fast bowler still recovering from the duration of the flight to Australia plus a four-hour bus trip into Canberra, Ishant was understandably below his best, and will take time to find his rhythm over the course of the week. There is sound reasoning for India to monitor Ishant's left ankle carefully, given the debate about whether or not he required ankle surgery to repair ligament damage he sustained in the third Test against England at Edgbaston in August. According to Cricinfo Ishant later came to field carrying drinks.Very much doubt Ishant will be asked to carry drinks if he had any injury. So dont think there is any reason to worry about Ishant.
G_B_ Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 there is also an issue of scheduling in this match why are some members of the side taking a 4 hour bus journey to get to the venue? why cant india base themselves in canbera and then move to melbourne for the first test?
peterparker Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 if ishant would have been injured then we would not have seen him bowling fast in indian pitches and indian pitches were absolutely dead..and he was clocing consistently 88 and 89 and sometimes 91 also.. and for that one needs to be fit..especially if bowling on such docile pitches

Its not going to be good for his ankle.

peterparker Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 to come n bowl reguarlry...or else he would have broken mid game
kubrickian Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Ishant had been injured even before the series and I read in the paper that a surgery was needed on his ankle which would put him out of the Aussie series. He rejected that claim later but what he did was postpone the surgery so he could play in the series, so that he wouldnt lose his place. Sanjay Manjrekar even wrote an article about this issue mentioning Bhajji's injury a while ago. It really comes into question the management of the side and who's monitoring the physical fitness of players and who makes the decision regarding a player is fit or not.
G_B_ Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 if ishant has been screwing with the BCCI and others just to play in the series then i will be extremely pissed off at him
Karan114 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Zaheer described Ishant's withdrawal as "just a precautionary measure", and preferred to speak about the promise shown by Umesh Yadav, who took three wickets on a batsmen's day.
