problem is we are in very difficult stage of series...some one need to be sacrificed... Gautham hit a 50+ so he cant dropped... Viru will get couple more chances Dravid and Lax may have retirement plans soon..so they will continue Dhoni is captain so the only BAt left is Kohli...it happens to anybody
We are not complaining about dropping Kohli. It's the way people are reacting like - Kohli sucks, Kohli not good enough for test and things like that are being said.

what about Sehwag, Warner, Watson? Kohli will be fine in couple of years. Keep him in top 6. Right now I would really want to introduce a new opener in the game and Sehwag at #5. Drop Kohli at #6 for now. RD was in the middle within first 10 overs. 2 of 4 times, SRT was in the middle in the first 10 overs. Playing first 20 overs is diminishing art/style of test cricket. A notion of giving an honor for the first hour of the day to the bowling team has completely forgotten. Dont expect any team to do well. T1 First Innings 8th over T1 Second Innings 6th over T2 First innings 3rd over T2 Second innings 1st over

Finey, Do you still think he is not a test material ? May be he needs to replace Dravid at #3 for a long test career.
He has potential, but to replace as a consistent #3 in Test cricket, lets see if he can continue to overcome the technical deficiencies. Congrats  to VK for the 100! esp when Maharathis were batting like street urchins in this tour.

Kohli has a comparatively better technique than Pujara who hasn't done anything except that one innings , also injury prone.

He has improved with every game and it was really satisfying to see him get the century today. He definitely has a lot of potential and lot of determination, so we have at least one sure shot replacement for the oldies.

Those who are Pujara-supporters at #3' date=' what have you seen in Pujara which you haven't seen in Kohli? He just had 1 injury and hasn't been picked there after. I don't remember him getting injured again?

I dont think that is true, Kohli still hangs his bat outside the off stump and when the ball moves around he will be a candidate for caught behind. But at the same time he is improving a lot and if he tightens that area of his technique we might have a pretty damn good batsman in him. Pujara whatever we have seen of him looks more compact. The only difference is Kohli is more stylish than Pujara, easy to the eye types.

agree Kohli is aggressive, he is better suited for #4/5

The thing goes in Pujara's favor is he is not a bottom hand batsman like Kohli. Kohli will be better at 4 once SRT goes. Pujara has shown better technique against swinging ball though he did not get many runs but he got some rippers from Steyn in SA, some were like Shane Warne's leg spin 140K. He also scored 50 only in his 2nd innings under pressure of casing a total after getting a shooter in the first innings and that was a sublime innings.

The issue was never his technique , but his approach to test cricket ...got to understand that hes only played LOI's and very little Ranji as well ...he was trying work some balls on offstumps for singles which should have been left alone ..but thats somting he will learn more he plays ..for me if hes not ready for tests , no other indian youngster is .
