Kapils 175 came when India batted first. While chasing.. i have seen some great innings in losing causes. Tendulkars 175, Tendulkars 143, Inzamam 100 plus while chasing 349, Bevan's 185 against Asia XI

Gotta add Sunil Gavaskar's 103 in 1987 world cup against nz. India had to win in certain number of overs to top the group (avoiding Pakistan in semi final). Sunny was running 102 degree fever. Opening partnership between him and cheeka was 132 in 16 overs. Those days such rate was unimaginable. only guys like Richards coulld pull that off

Definitely one of the best ODI knocks of all time. This was a match winning knock under pressure chasing 320 and that too to be achieved under 40 overs to stay in contention for the final. Amazing innings.

One of the best ODI knocks. May be in top 3-4. He looked very ordinary till he played a drive while bisecting mid -off and covers. After that it was pure class.

On most days, for any batsman, chasing 320 in 50 overs would be considered a great feat. But to do it in 37 overs, that too not because he just chanced upon a good day of batting form - that's called just showing up for the party - but because that was needed today of all days, in a do or die situation - That's called putting your hand up.

Well, that wasn't back to wall situation anyways. IIRC, India could still have topped the group, though depending on results of other matches, and team was already through to SF. Also NZ were rank minow that time. However, Indian run rate was kind of amazing of those times. They chased down some 230 just in 32 overs. Match is also remembered for Chetan Sharma's hattrick, first by an Indian.

That was one of those rare games when a batsmen single handedely won the match chasing a big score . Virats Knock though is very close imo.

This is the attitude that made Indian team top, not sure why they played so slow in previous games. Our batting likes to dominate. And today we could see, when the situation forced our batsmen to go all guns blazing they did what they're always known for. Kohli's knock is def one of India's best in winning cause, otherwise 2nd to Tendulkar's 175 vs Aus in my view.
