Rahul Dravid retires from International cricket

Tickers on Zee News and News24 says Dravid has decided to retire from international cricket and that a formal announcement could be made in the next 2-3 days. The source of the news is those "reliable sources", and the ticker also says he has told his family of this decision and will soon have a press conference. Not sure how true the news would turn out to be, but if it is true, then it will be the end of an era of Indian cricket, one of our best ever test batsman and among the best match winners we have ever had. A true fighter who relished the toughest of challenges and was the crisis man in innumerable test matches and ODIs for the team. He had seen it coming a LONG LONG time ago, maybe around 2002-03, when he pointed out in an interview that he didn't really like the nickname because when he loses form etc, the nickname is going to haunt him with the press going bonkers with puns and all.

Sad but had to end someday.. one of my Favorite batsman.. loved the look on the face of Shoaib Akhtar when he used to steam in as fast as he could just to meet the straight bat of Dravid :hatsoff:

I would rather Laxman goes and RD carries on for the next 2 home series before retiring, dont think we can afford to lose them both but equally one has to make way for Rohit and Pujara
