"By all means, take up the issue with the International Olympics Committee (IOC) but a boycott will not be the right action. I will be very sad for Indian athletes, sad for India, Britain, of course. I will be desperately sad. But I cannot tell people to come. I have fulfilled all my responsibilities. I hope the Indian athletes will come" This is what British PM said even he doesnt care.

It would be foolish to boycott the Olympics for this reason. Here's an interesting article on Dow's responsibility in this entire case: Our's to Dow or die!
Discussed the same thing in another thread, the thekedaars of desh ki izzat won't budge obviously. The thread could be merged.

India boycotting means nothing' date=' no standout athletes at all.[/quote'] So, you think nobody would/should bother if Eng decides not to participate in next ODI WC in Australia?

India boycotting means nothing' date=' no standout athletes at all.[/quote'] I will like to throw coin towards you now . what would have been your reaction if incident like Bhopal Gas Tragedy had happened in Uk instead of India , and the evils who were responsible for it were allowed to the leave the country after the incident.

No we shouldn't . When you have your political leaders escorting the top culprit out of the country, you are in no position to call or ask for anything from others. In any case, if gaining awareness and protesting is the motive then participation in Olympics with athletes wearing a black band or holding some gins or protesters being present in every site or event can be much more fruitful.

There is a very important aspect here. By accepting DOW chemical as sponsor Olympic association has agreed that it has no liability over Bhopal deaths. It is that part of ethics code that is India worried about. What India needs to do is go after DOW Chemicals. But it cant becuase(I leave you to fill the gap).... What is happening here is what happened to Falklands.... Falklands belongs to Britain and they got all the right to bomb Argentina for that...Every nation agrees to that..... Hangon....Have you seen the map where Falklands is situated or how them people look???

I believe sponsoring Olympics was a very calculated moove. Possibility of corruption among Olympic officials cant be denied as well. I dont see Sponsorship amount a issue here. Main point is any future claim against DOW chemicals by Bhopal tragedy victims is weakened by OLympics associations assertion that Dow has no liability. It also gives unprecedented advantage to DOW when doing business deals. (The same deals where UCC wouldnt have been invited). So its not just a emotional outburst case for government of India.. The similarity between the Falklands and this case is extent of ridiculousness of claims (Olympic Association and British)
