Indian bowling has gone to the dogs

P.Koomar is an utter waste of space. Terrible stats, no pace and gets smashed when opening, in the middle overs or at the death. Pure cannon fodder. Together with V.Koomar are the worst pair of trundlers the world has ever seen.

Remove that Ashwin, use him only in the home conditions. He is a joker outside India. He can't bounce the ball..he has one of the worst bowling actions, can't walk, can't run, can't judge where the ball is, so catching the ball is not in his reach. Irfan Pathan has worked on his full tosses...he was unlucky today despite the runs he gave away. He bowled Yorkers well in the death overs..rather than full tosses.

Our ODI & t20 bowling line up Our batting in the ODI & t20 is very strong, one of the strongest one in the world. But I gotta say that this bowling is hopeless. Here is some bowlers who can bring some resurgence. Seamers:-Aaron,Abu Nechim,Shami Ahmed,Vinay(He should be given a bit more chance as he has done pretty well earlier).Umesh & Ishant should be kept away from ODIs & t20.I haven't mentioned Munaf or Nehra as both are old, crap fielders & can't bat.Though they are good bowlers in limited overs format but nowadays u can't be in the team without couple of aspect in ur game.Irfan can be in the team as an all-rounder,the 5th bowling option replacing Jaddu that'll open up a spot for Rahul Sharma & how can I forget abt Praveen? He can just go to hell. Spinners:-Ashwin(he'll get a :whack: if he doesn't improve his fielding,Rahul Sharma, Harbhajan Singh(He doesn't deserve to be in the test team but he is still a force in the limited overs).

Now even in bowling Dhoni wants batsmen likes of Raina, Kohli, and Rohit to come to bowlers' rescue. Our main bowlers cannot even complete their quota. Let them complete their overs and go for runs. This is the only they can learn a thing or two.

The worst bowling line up. Blame goes to Dhoni. He has taken this trundler culture to new heights. I'd rather want a Captain who reacts to these kind of thrashings , he is so naturally laid back that he doesn't even react in any way.

When he first came on he looked decent with great ability to control his swing. But now it's just the case running up, letting go, and hands on hip stance watching the bowl sail to fence, pathetic. Praveen-Kumar_01.jpg
Guys who just swing the ball at 125k can never be long term bets particularly as we play on pattas, its better we start backing guys who have Pace in all formats .

Dhoni really needs to rethink his strategy now that India's shameful season has ended. That whether he should keep backing medium pacers or develop genuine pacers for the future. And he cannot develop any bowler, swing or pace, VK or UY, if he doesn't give them complete quota of overs. I mean, how can you develop a bowler when discourage him match after match by not completing their quota of overs. And you keep getting rattled for 10-15 rpo from our part-timers but you don't bowl your regular bowlers. Secondly, I have always said, India is struggling from the last 1 yr miserably in the bowling dept, just bcoz Dhoni in his captaincy period of 4 yrs so far, has not developed any decent fast bowler, not even 1. Those bowlers who were introduced into intl cricket by Dhoni, there is no-one who have made a mark

I've seen enough of idiots like Jadeja (doesn't know to bat also) and Dinda. They are nothing but trash. Without Zaheer' date=' India looks horrible when bowling. Ashwin bowls well one day and not so the next. Dinda is useless. Pathan must say had a shocking day yesterday.[/quote'] Jadeja has potential as an all rounder. The thing we need to look out for, with him, is that he is poor, away from India. Within India, he is a very strong ODI cricketer, with 35 wickets at 28.11 and 334 runs at 30.36 (though his batting seems more unaffected by venue, tbh). His bowling away from India is poor and that is the thing we need to look for immediate improvement with, else he should be dropped on a longer term basis. Dinda is promising at the death. His slower ball can get quite a few wickets. Fans always whine about our inability at the death. Dinda is a death bowler with potential, as showed against Pakistan in the ODI he played where he picked up two at the death. He is not the finished article, as showed by his performance against Bangladesh. His performance against Bangladesh was clear evidence of thoughtless selection by selectors. He proved himself in the 4 day game by bowling extremely long spells and picking up wickets. In ODI cricket, it is about keeping runs down and even when you are looking for wickets, you do so in a different way. I feel he was accustomed to the wrong format and so struggled against Bangladesh. He had come off four List-A games, but that is hardly much at Ranji OD level. I don't agree that he is 'useless'. Ashwin has started his ODI career excellently. He will have bad days and we can allow that, we need to look first to eliminate poor captaincy decisions and poor selections before we scrutinize him. I do worry slightly about his ability outside subcontinent, but he did fine in a few games in Australia so those worries have not been fully proven yet.

The bigger culprit is the captaincy. What were Raina and Rohit doing bowling the 11th-15th over?
I'm aware this was about a past match but I do agree with this. Raina could perhaps be argued for an early spell, but imo, Rohit and Kohli should never bowl in ODIs. They just aren't international standard bowlers.
And then the biggest question mark is on team combination. If Jadeja is plying as the 5th bowler' date=' why not play Rahul Sharma, a specialist bowler in his place? If we could play 3 spinners in an ODI in Australia, what stops the team management from using the same strategy on these pitches?[/quote'] I think Rahul can be an excellent limited overs bowler if given the chance. He appears extremely awkward to play. Not for Tests, atm, due to his poor FC record but IPL performances show he can keep the runs down against top quality opposition.

What the hell has happened to PK's bowling? short, wide @ that pace....VK has out bowled PK recently

What the hell has happened to PK's bowling? short' date=' wide @ that pace....VK has out bowled PK recently[/quote'] Vinay Kumar has not done too bad. He has played with little support and has occasionally done very well. I think he is somebody we need to stick with and somebody who will repay us. Our bowlers have time and again fallen to injury, but his fitness is very good and so he can improve with the valuable experience of international cricket. No one has improved on the physios table, but he is showing clear progress and the numbers show that. Long stints without injury allow one to build form too. It is no coincidence that Munaf's fine performance in the World Cup came after a period of no injuries. You can, of course, come from injury and do well...but if you are always getting injured, then poor performances are far more likely. Yadav and Aaron are valuable bowlers but I think we can look to keep Vinay around the team and squad without even mentioning Yadav and Aaron. Everyone agrees that they should be in the ODI squads and I think Yadav is our top Test bowler other than Zaheer, atm (Aaron has quite a bit of improving to do in the format) so I think I can support Vinay without it being implied I am not supporting the hunt for quality 140kph bowlers too.

@MSB but I dont see Vinay as a test option. He can be a part of ODI team but not test. So we still need to find bowlers for test. Zaheer is not going to last much and he too has past his prime and does not look to have much sting. Yadav can be effective but is not consistent yet. This is the reason we need to try new bowlers so that we can see who can do what. We are not trying new bowlers and recycling old failures wont solve the problem. Since England tour our bowling was just better than Bangladesh in tests and only SL and Bangladesh were worse in ODIs. Regarding Munaf, he bowled well only in one match that was against pakistan.

Vinay Kumar will only repay us with more mediocore performances,First season is usually good for newcomers the real test is second season,P.k was found out so will vinay kumar . And he averages close to 34 currently which is bad even by bangladesh standards. When you have young quicks there is no need for these guys who have no future and regarding tests he will never get another game.

You are never sure with Indian selectors and captain.

Munaf bowled well against Bangladesh. He also bowled well in the final. Vinay does not look like a good Test option, agreed. I think he deserves one more shot and probably deserves to be kept in the squad above the likes of Aaron who have no FC credentials. However, he should not be pushed into the XI unnecessarily.

He averages 33.03 and since 2011, has averaged 30.88. Bowlers struggle in second seasons because of injury but I think he is a very fit cricketer who will not get injured often. Therefore, this second season slump is less likely to occur.

Bangladesh wee chasing 370 in that match. Munaf is a good economical bowler right now but that is it. I would play him as a third seamer but then his fielding is crap too and cannot hold bat as well. I would love a bowler like Clint McKay in my ODI team. Both he and McKay bowl at similar speeds, but McKay is a better batsmen and better fielder. IF we have two good frontline fast bowlers, then Munaf is a very good bowler. Regarding Aaron and Vinay, Vinay bowled at Perth and Aaron at flattest track of the series in Wankhede and still Aaron looked more impressive than Vinay. Some times talent and potential should be given more weight-age than just FC performances. I will chose Aaron over Vinay in tests any day. He may not set the world alight but certainly will learn from the experience and with age on his side and pace in his armery, I will expect him to graduate to next level faster than Vinay. There is an example of Gony. When Gony was selected for Indian team, he was not even doing well for Punjab, but was selected after IPL and he was just decent in IPL, not great, but then dropped after just 2 ODI matches. While he was not doing that well in FC at that time, but now for last 2-3 seasons as he gained more experience, he has done a great job for Punjab, but he is still nowhere near a recall. This is the reason I would want Aaron to play tests and stay with team, because as he gains experience he will become better and he certainly has most ingredients of a fast bowler. Good pace, good seam position, and is fairly accurate. It is all about now learning new skills and then implementing them together.

Disagree that we need two good frontline fast bowlers though. Munaf is fine to take the new ball. In the World Cup final, he played with effectively one bowler to support him (Zaheer, because Sreesanth was terrible) and he did fine. I think it is necessary he proves his fitness first. We agree that he is good, not great at ODI bowling though and I think anything else is splitting hairs at this moment.
