Ponka Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Suprised not a thread on him yet. He's in top 10 ICC ODI bowler rankings with Ajmal. He doesnt have a doosra like Ajmal so what does he do different than other bowlers/spinners which makes him so dangerous??? He has a slight delay in action which adds to his advantage as he gets an idea what is batsman trying to do but other than that why is he so successfull? This cant be the only reason cuz everyone else in the world would start to do that. Have to accept, he would get into most team as a full time ODI spinner and better than Ashwin and Ojha who would go for runs in ODIs.
Crookbond Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Balls stump-to-stump, sticks to the basics. No non-sense bowler. Wouldn't go by the ratings though.
Ponka Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 He'll be thrashed as well.. Did well against India. His figures 9 overs 42 runs 1 wicket (gambhir) He's not new so not sure why you would say he will be thrashed. Apparently he has done well in T20s as well.

Dravid_TheWall Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 From what I have seen he doesn't give much room to the batsmen. Bowls very accurate. He isn't bowling darts either. Just accurate spin.
daryl1985 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 He is excellent against left handers. Not too great against right handers. Cook played him very well in the England ODI's recently tho.
vvvslaxman Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Accurate.. also his pause helps him a bit. Also he neither flights nor darts.. somewhere in between.
Old guy Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 he is some one like yuvraj.. whose bowling is useful.. but he is no all rounder.
pacman Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 also hustles through his bowling and overs rather quickly
phaedrus Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 he is some one like yuvraj.. whose bowling is useful.. but he is no all rounder. thats what i was thinking as well. does the job especially in the SC. both have grown in confidence with the amount of trust put by their teams.
Utalk Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Stop copying my thread ponka. Hafeez is the most underrated bowler around. Bloke bowls in PP or comes on when opposition have thrashed the hell out of new ball bowlers i.e Mohali. He is consistently going under 4 an over. He gives us control and important breakthroughs and above all Gambhir is his bunny. 2/2.

Clarke Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I'm surprised no one seems to use their feet & play him over the bowler's head.
SLICKR392 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Ajmal was lucky he din't have face a well set Gambhir...he took Hafeez way too lightly. Would have loved to see..Hafeez opening the bowling & Sehwag on strike.

ZodiaC Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Hafeez is really accurate and darts them in well, and his pause before bowling is somewhat distracting too.
ZodiaC Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Accurate.. also his pause helps him a bit. Also he neither flights nor darts.. somewhere in between. This, though it's mostly darts - he bowls them flat and gives hardly any room at good lengths.
