Jason Holder looking to 'eliminate boundary balls' Jason Holder, the 20-year-old quick who opened the bowling for West Indies A in the recently-concluded unofficial Test series against India A, has said he is keen on tightening up his bowling More... India A in the West Indies 2012 Jason Holder looking to 'eliminate boundary balls' ESPNcricinfo staff June 27, 2012 146195.2.jpg Jason Holder: "There are some bowlers and allrounders ahead of me [for West Indies selection], but I'm prepared to put in the [required] work." Jason Holder, the 20-year-old quick who opened the bowling for West Indies A in the recently-concluded unofficial Test series against India A, has said he is keen on tightening up his bowling. Holder had claimed a five-for in India's chase in the first unofficial Test, helping reduce the visitors to 115 for 8, before they recovered to an unlikely win. In the Twenty20s that followed, he returned figures of 3 for 19 in West Indies three-wicket win on June 23. Now, he will play the three-match ODIs series. "I have been bowling reasonably well, but I still have areas where I could improve upon - the extras and 'boundary balls' are the main areas I need to eliminate," Holder said on eve of the first unofficial one-dayer. In limited-overs cricket, he enjoys bowling at the death, he said. "I am always keen on finishing the innings [while bowling], as it's one of the most exciting parts of the game. It's a really good feeling when you bowl a good last over." Holder, at 6ft.7, towers over several team-mates, and is often compared with former West Indies quick Joel Garner. He has learnt a lot from Garner, Holder said, but he does not try to imitate him. "I have a great deal of respect for him [Garner] and his knowledge. I try to speak to him as often as I can and he always offers great advice. I see him as someone who has done it all and can help me along the way. I don't try to be a carbon-copy of him. "My ultimate ambition is to play for West Indies. That is still some way off and I know there is a lot of work to do... I need to keep growing. There are some bowlers and allrounders ahead of me, but I'm prepared to put in the [required] work."

Turning into a horror tour just like the seniors. Batting has been pathetic in all formats on this tour - bowling in comparison been decent but its an impossible task to be able to defend such pitiful totals. At least it has highlighted that some so-called talents should be nowhere near the senior team.

India A go down in last-over thriller An unbeaten 35-run ninth-wicket stand between Veerasammy Permaul and Nikita Miller helped West Indies beat India A, in their first unofficial ODI More... West Indies A v India A, 1st unofficial ODI, Grenada India A go down in last-over thriller ESPNcricinfo staff June 28, 2012 West Indies A 193 for 8 (Carter 39, Dinda 3-45) beat India A 190 (Rahane 58, Permaul 4-33) by two wickets Scorecard 146388.2.jpgVeerasammy Permaul (centre) took four wickets and was then involved in a 35-run ninth-wicket stand An unbeaten 35-run stand between West Indies A captain Veerasammy Permaul and Nikita Miller for the ninth wicket helped the hosts come from behind to beat India A by two wickets* in their first unofficial ODI played at St George's, Grenada. Chasing 191, West Indies seemed to be out of the game when they slid to 158 for 8, but Permaul combined with Miller to steer the hosts to victory, with three balls to spare. Permaul had picked up four wickets earlier in the day and made sure he was Man of the Match by scoring a match-winning 22, including a four and a six. Earlier, India A elected to bat and managed 190 in their 50-overs. Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane put on a 49-run opening stand but the Indians lost their way after their departure as Permaul swept through the middle order. Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary and Wriddhiman Saha all got starts before falling to Permaul. After posting 190, India A's bowlers struck early by dismissing Test openers Adrian Barath for five and Kieran Powell, who followed at 42, after stroking 25 off 24 balls with three fours. Kirk Edwards then played aggressively, scoring 33 with two fours and a six to add 29 for the third wicket with Nkrumah Bonner. After Edwards' departure with the score on 98, a 54-run, fifth-wicket stand between Jonathan Carter and Assad Fudadin kept the home side afloat. West Indies, though, lost four wickets for six runs, and were left needing Permaul and Miller 's heroics to clinch the victory. Both sides will, now, meet for the second unofficial ODI on June 29.

So in conclusion Rahane is a limited over specialist Rohit is an all rounder.
actually wrong... he got out to this same spinner in tests...and it was no sloging or shots hit in the air.. only conclusion i can draw is tht he is atleast putting up fight here in odis others arent even doing that :wall: this guy will improve rohit is the biggest disappointment ... yes failures can happen but the way he fails is jsut ridiculous

plzzzzzz.rohit can never be a allrounder......west indies pitches are condusive for spin bowling. If he was an allrounder, he should ahve gotten lot of wickets in the Ranji matches. BTW, we already have quite few part timers. We dont need more. Let him concentrate on his batting which will be his bread and butter. Rahane is a test batsmen. INfact, it would be good for india, if he is allowed to concentrate only on test matches. Not everyone is Kohli. Kind of hard to adjust from ODI to test cricket. Prime examples are Yuvraj and Raina & many more.....
