Breaking News: Kapil Dev snubbed by BCCI, no 1.5 Crore for him, he was eligible for one-time benefit payment. I fully support BCCI, Kapil Dev never praises Mahendra Singh Dhoni Jee, grudge or jelousy? Anyways he was way overrated, fat unathletic guy with Darren Sammy like cricketing abilities and no charisma or fan following outside Chandigarh.

What my age has to do with this thread? My father told me Kapil is a Jatt, they tend to be lazy people. Look at Yuvraj Singh, he too 6.2" big/bulky/stocky but cant dive or jump or run fast between wickets. Pakistan also got fair share of Jatts, and their team was never known for athleticism, whereas Sri Lankans and we south Indians tend to be more agile and long lasting.

I am a pure bread south Indian.. and I cannot disagree with you more. Calling Kapil Dev Lazy is like calling Einstein dumb. The only south Indian who had ever caught my attention in the past was Srikkanth... because of his aggressive and entertaining batting. With people like pot-bellied Ashwin who fields like a one armed 60 year old woman in a wheel chair.. I'm amazed that you can call south indians more agile than the rest. The only ones from south india who get into the national side are Brahmins.. and Brahmins are the least athletic of the bunch.. . thanks to their dietary habits.. (yes, I am a brahmin too). You are not old enough.. trust me.. Kapil Dev was a true son of Indian Cricket... He was fearless, swashbuckling and had great passion for the game. I have spent many a years during my pre-teen and teen years admiring Kapil Dev for how he played. I am not just saying Kapil Dev was incredibly popular.. I am telling you.. that the Indian cricket team revolved around Kapil Dev.. It was Kapil Dev this.. Kapil Dev that.. pretty much as much as it was all about Sachin Tendulkar during his peak years. .. Hardly a status achievable by a "Lazy Jatt". He was one the best all rounders India has ever produced and I don't think to date we've had an all rounder like him yet. I am guessing you are a typical hindi-hating south Indian who thinks it is cool and sophisticated to be brainy and that acts that require physical exertion or skills are reserved for the less brainy. I mean..after all Tamil Nadu was (is?) the only state in the country that does not air the national Hindi News at 9 pm. Is your family with the anti-hindi camp?.. you know.. the ones who go around spraying black paint over stuff written in Hindi in railway stations etc?

When BCCI announces a benefit for ex cricketers, leaving Kapil Dev out is vindictive and a cringeworthy move. The cricketers were honoured for their contribution to their Indian cricket, not for their behavior towards BCCI or its rival leagues.

The Wisden Indian cricketer of the century not invited by the BCCI in an event to honour the legends? The loss is entirely of BCCI's and Indian cricket. They continue to be buffoons in a circus. Shameful and utterly pathetic.
