ECB wants DRS in India series

England and Wales Cricket Board has written to the BCCI, asking for the implementation of Decision Review System (DRS) during England's four-match Test series later this year, though it was not optimistic of the Indian Board agreeing to it, a media report said on Wednesday. India have strongly resisted the use of the DRS because of their senior players' doubts over its accuracy and it was not used when the two teams met in England last summer. Umpire Daryll Harper, who called for a DRS referral report in the Daily Telegraph, said that "The ECB has written to the Indian Board, asking for the implementation of the DRS during the Test series (beginning November 15)." "But insiders at the ECB privately concede that attempts to persuade their Indian counterparts to employ it will be futile ahead of the Test series, which starts in Ahmedabad on November 15," the report said. "England believe the Decision Review System benefits their attack, particularly Graeme Swann," it said. According to the report, England regard the tour of India as important as an Ashes series, a view underlined with the inclusion of three warm-up matches in the itinerary mirroring their last trip to Australia. "(Coach) Andy Flower acknowledged his team's long break after the English summer last year could have contributed to their poor performances in the Emirates (against Pakistan). The itinerary for the India trip shows he is attempting to avoid a repeat of that mistake," the report said. England will spend three days at a training camp at the ICC's Global Cricket Academy in Dubai before flying to India for their first warm-up match in Mumbai on October 30. http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/51280/ecb-wants-drs-in-india-series/?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=news&utm_campaign=gadget

I actually think it would be benefit England NOT having DRS, the spinners are less likely to get LBW's Also worth noting that the improved hotspot in the West indies Series worked a treat, picked up every little nick.

Think it has moved beyond MSD and Sachin opposing DRS. Now the BCCI sees DRS as an ego issue and will not accept it till such time that the producers of these technologies plead before them with folded hands. There is a reason why we do not even see the hawk eye in TV feed produced by the BCCI for home series, domestic matches, IPL and CLt20.

LOL WUT ?!?!?!? DRS was the bane of their existence against Pakistan. The system favors spinners and therefore it should be the case that the BCCI would be voluntarily implementing it.

:WTF: Why is there a Test match here, a sh!te of pitch and venue for Test match, no amount of DRS is going to help, expect a run fest bore draw kicking off the series.

screw it. the use of DRS in the england-paki series was a disgrace. u had crappy spinners like monty pannisaar and abdul rahman trying to bowl fuller, flatter and quicker in an effort to hit the pads every single ball. the typical routine for both sides was to spear it in, hit the pads, shriek at the umpires like *****es and then refer it if they didnt rule in their favour. not to forget the great 'clipping the stumps by a centimeter' decisions being given. absolute joke. if this is the **** we are gonna see, then forget it.

If the system is not being used than how can they expect a better version of it to come out. BCCI is being stupid here. Everything evolves with Trial/Error, same goes for DRS.

england just need issues to whine. already making up excuses for the thrashing they gonna get.
this is so overblown, england since being no.1 have never complained always taken defeats on the chin. accepted they weren't good enough during the asia tour and over-estimated their abilties. i really think this india will be looking for excuses this time around

Wait a sec, England want DRS after they were lubelessy *****ed in the ass by Pakistan? Hahaha, bring it on. Let's make a legend out of Ashwin. And if any of our bats end up as casualties, we'll send Dhoni and big Dunc to their dressing room and demand to get him back on the crease. 4-0. I want nothing else against those pompous pygmies. And then 7-0 in the ODI series. Then award them a free T20 after the end of it all, so that they don't die of depression, which they seem to get day and night where they come from. That game is after the WT20 anyway, so it shouldn't matter.
