Vilander Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 we need a new captain, but Gambhir is not the one. Its Zaheer Khan. Zak is the most eligible man to be captain of indian team. We need to make Zak the test team captain, and Dhoni the best finisher in ODI rules ODI and t20.
Crookbond Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Not long before we would want Tendulkar to be made as captain. :headshake:
BERGKAMP Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 we need a new captain, but Gambhir is not the one. Its Zaheer Khan. Zak is the most eligible man to be captain of indian team. We need to make Zak the test team captain, and Dhoni the best finisher in ODI rules ODI and t20. no way, zaheer is now turning into an overweight trundler, who has no bottle and guts with the bat at all, and is a shite fielder. sadly, our days of being good at test cricket are over. it doesn't matter who is captain, we will still always beat dross like nz wi pak sl at home, but will never be able to win in eng aus or sa. as for captain give it to kohli, he will **** it up no doubt in first couple of years, but after that he will mature and should be good to lead the side for 10 years plus.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Zaheer can't stay on the park. Would be a terrible choice.
SLICKR392 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Dhoni has already started his talks on making Zak the bowling coach after he retires and people here wants to make him to be the captain. Gambhir any day...his performance is better when he is made the captain. Make Kohli the T20 captain and later on hand him the Test captaincy.
Kumar Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I really think Dhoni suits being a limited overs captain including both ODI and T20 cricket, winning the T20 and ODI world cup as captain is enough to realise hes the best limited overs captain we have easily currently! For tests Gambhir would seem the preferred choice though. Though I would prefer Dhoni to still remain and Kholi take over later. This issue is not that big at this current point, for starts kicking Laxman out of the test team would make sense for future players, as currently only one indian seems plausible for a good test future!
jf1gp_1 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Indian cricket team is in for major overhaul Sachin, VVS arent going to be around for long; Zaheer and Veru both will be 34 when India plays its next test match, though i wish him all the very best noone knows what kind of return yuvi will have, bhaji is more or less gone. Maybe a new captain who grows with the team is what we need.
Robelinda Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Much like us Aussies, you guys don't have a lots solid choices for a captain. I think the best move could be to elevate someone young, like South Africa did in 2002 with Graeme Smith. I wouldn't choose Gambhir, but he would be better than Dhoni I reckon, but there's only so much you can do as a skipper with a toothless bowling attack. Its a tough job.
Old guy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 dhoni is best choice right now :(( wht we do need is good bowlers tht will change everything afterall dhoni isnt the sme guy who got us to no 1 ? (well technically he didnt team did...just proves captain cant do much :P )
Prakat Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I'd go for Varun Aaron as captain for test team. That is guaranteed to shake things up. I can see gambhir and kohli outdoing each other, making videos explaining why they would be a better choice.
MCcricket Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Dhoni is past he sell by date, with the change of guard, impending retirements, a new captain , fresh ideas needed. Dhoni's captaincy is unimaginative, very very defensive, does not captain well at all outside India and is very defensive, will not support bowlers.Gambhir should be the test captain, I am not sure by merit Dhoni deserves to be in the test side, Saha is the better choice in test, Gambhir is aggressive, hates loosing, can bat in all three formats , also I think he is a versatile batsmen and very under rated.

Cricket Tragic Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I'd go for Varun Aaron as captain for test team. You will get support atleast from one member on ICF. :giggle:
Old guy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 If he din't and the team won the No.1 ranking then stop blaming him and blame the team for 8-0...then this whole topic wouldn't exist' date=' would it?[/quote'] i dont blame him alone.. but he is part of reason but tbh he is much bettter leader then sehwag and gambhir ...maybe kohli will take over in 2 years right now this guy is the best choice imho with our bowling line up and aging batting line up i dont think diff captain would ve made much of a difference .. and tell me who else is there gambhir has been bad in tests ..same with sehwag and he is totally brainless .. other problem with gambhir is i dont see him as a good leader yes kkr won ipl but htere were many brain fart selections ..and his behavour in final:cantstop:
Raghav_12 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Not long before we would want Tendulkar to be made as captain. :headshake: Not a bad idea IMHO. Keep him as a caretaker kind of captain for an year or so, while we develop an youngster for full-fledged role. The kind of experiment we did with Anil Kumble when Dhoni waited to take role of captaincy in all formats. I don't see rampant infighting going away from dressing room unless selectors go for a choice who is acceptable for everyone.
saneindian Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Someone suggested Zaheer as the captain. Looking at the dogfight amongst the current captain and the other contenders, we may actually see that happening, especially if Zaheer retires from ODI and T20 cricket. He isn't part of any camp and will be a popular leader of the side till his retirement.
Sachin=GOD Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I thin Kohli should be groomed as our next captain but not for another 2 years. I'm not sure he is the right choice - IMO he is too brash and arrogant to be the Captain. He has to improve his attitude before I would even think about him as Captain. Dhoni has failed miserably and should be sacked but I''m certain that he will be given some more chances to do well in India. As for the new Captain, if Raina can improve his technique then I can see him being a good Captain. we need a new captain, but Gambhir is not the one. Its Zaheer Khan. Zak is the most eligible man to be captain of indian team. We need to make Zak the test team captain, and Dhoni the best finisher in ODI rules ODI and t20. Thats hilarious - half the time he is out with injury and you want him as Captain :cantstop: Not a bad idea IMHO. The kind of experiment we did with Anil Kumble when Dhoni waited to take role of captaincy in all formats. I don't see rampant infighting going away from dressing room unless selectors go for a choice who is acceptable for everyone. He has already refused the Captaincy earlier so I don't see him accepting it this time. But I agree about the part about grooming someone and that someone can be Kohli if he improves his attitude or Raina if he improves his technique. Someone suggested Zaheer as the captain. Looking at the dogfight amongst the current captain and the other contenders' date= we may actually see that happening, especially if Zaheer retires from ODI and T20 cricket. He isn't part of any camp and will be a popular leader of the side till his retirement. if that happens then we will see even more of those dogfights between the contenders for Captaincy because half the time Zak will be absent due to injury. He is India's leading pace bowler and a mentor for youngsters and will remain so but won't be the Captain.
Vijay.Sharma Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Like D_T_W campaigned, make Sreesanth the captain and coach
