coffee_rules Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Outside of the courts, anything goes in India. Never heard of courts deciding in favor of fringe group taking up violence if not in their favor.

Yet complete silence from BJP.I wonder why :haha:

In fact when their lead goon died he was given a state funeral.
Tiger80 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 LOL! "Fringe" Hindu groups have in the past succeeded to stall the release of a film not for it's contents but because the lead is a traitor according to them. They didn't even require a court order to do that. Even as a Sikh I have to accept that Hindu's have much more tolerance than Muslims or Sikhs when it comes to freedom on Films .Many times films do show many things about Hinduism which could be unthinkable for other religions.

arun81 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 She isn't a member of NDA. Last time she was partner of NDA was in 2004 lok Sabha elections when ADMK got wiped out in all forty seats. Her Hindutva / Pro RSS agenda was a key reason in those defeats. Ever since no major party in TN got into coalition with BJP nor can I see anyone doing in the near future Most Muslim voters are neutral in TN so u often see both DMK and ADMK trying to pander as pro-Islamic to get their votes . This is one similar attempt/ chance by Jaya to boost her pro- Islamic image with lok sabha elections coming in 2014. Seriously ? JJ lost due to corruption and infrastructure disintegration and burning of some people... Pro RSS had noting do with those defeats....

BeautifulGame Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Seriously ? JJ lost due to corruption and infrastructure disintegration and burning of some people... Pro RSS had noting do with those defeats.... The key reasons she lost was because of the anti-conversion law and banning sacrifices of animals in temples which are both pro-RSS thinking. Another important factor was her handing of state govt. employess during the strike.Corruption was not even an issue during the 2004 lok sabha elections. And Dharmapuri bus burning tragedy happened in 2000 after which she won the 2001 assembly elections.
ravishingravi Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Breaking news :- Kamal says he does not feel safe as a hindu ( majority ) in India. He feels he is being used a pawn in a political game.

Kyon? Great Bong Uncle told you that Shah Rukh Khan said he does not feel safe in India? Can you ask Bong Uncle where he said that?

I said it is media's responsibility to take on the ban and create noise, be it from Fringe Hindu or Muslim groups, but got to love the selective amnesia of English electronics media. Barring times now, it is non-issue for channels whereas there were so many discussions for films like parzania.

There was some coverage on NDTV as well. The Shahrukh/Hassan/Nandy/Rushdie stories are stiched together and that's not a bad way to put it when highlighting freedom of speech (the lack of it).
Nova Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Kamal Haasan has agreed to "modify" his film Vishwaroopam after talks with Muslim leaders. "I have agreed to delete some scenes" so they do not offend "my Muslim brothers", Haasan told reporters on Wednesday. "They have given me a list of certain scenes that might offend and certain words from the Holy Quran that should be removed," he said. Source What are the scenes and words from the Quran, which are deemed offensive? Anyone know? Please shed some light, if you have watched the movie already.

Kamal Hasan fights dinosaurs in the movie, but since Quran says world is 6000 years old (I assume), that is a problem.

The only scene i remember where Quaran was mentioned was when a Taliban leader tells him some quotes from Quran which Kamal says he cant understand becoz he doesnt know Arabic. I genuinely fail to see how it is offending.
Cevno Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I just watched the movie due to this controversy. Nothing even remotely offensive. They have shown Al Qaeda doing Terrorism in the name of a religion, which is the truth. How that offends Indian muslims is beyond me. Plus the hero fighting them is a Muslim too. Just a hullabaloo about nothing. NDTV was showing that Kamal Haasan had said that Chidambaram can be PM and Jaya TV wanted satellite rights so.... As i said before this film is even running in Owaisi MP hyderabad ffs. And also in Kerala which has 5 times muslim population of Tamil Nadu. This is just bullshit and selective targeting.

NDTV was showing that Kamal Haasan had said that Chidambaram can be PM and Jaya TV wanted satellite rights so.... This JJ ( b-word) has an agenda. its as simple as that. only thing that angered me was there could be morons in the HC who are willing to give such unadulterated nonense an iota of credibility
BeautifulGame Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 And this is not the first time either. She exactly tried to that Rajini's batcha too a few years back
