still not convinced about the Best.. i still remember WC game against Australia.. what a rackless shot he played.. Bevan was in tough situation playing with tailenders plenty of times and won lot of games.. Dhoni still needs to prove few things before he can be called the Best.. Gem of a team player though.. !!

Who performed better with tail-enders ? Dhoni or Bevan? Cant recall any knock played by Dhoni equivalent to that of Bevan's knock against England during the 2003 WC.
What? Bichel won them that game WTF you talking about?

If Andy bichel had got out England would have won the match  come up with different argument. Bichel that day batted like a top order batsman. That partnership lasted 72 balls. 36 balls faced by Bichel. Unless you can prove Bevan protected Bichel and scores those runs you cannot possibly say Bevan alone won the match.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65531.html Another Match . Australia were 38/6 chasing 172 against West Indies bowling attack consisting of Ambrose /Walsh . Bevan sealed the one wicket victory on the last ball where 4 runs were required by hitting a straight boundary . When has Dhoni done anything of a similar note? In both the matches against England & Windies , Bevan was the only member of his team to cross the 50 run mark . Bevan has played knocks similar to the one played by Dhoni in Mumbai but Dhoni has never played like Bevan did . Bevan was in a different league .

Also I don't get this batting with tail is supposed to be tougher, most batsmen in those situations have nothing to lose. You win, you're a hero, you lose, on well it was out of your hands. What are you trying to prove by pulling out single knocks and making them the benchmark?

I dont think Dhoni has surpassed bevan perhaps he is as good as Bevan.I would agree if he does it for another couple of years though.Because Bevan did that role with perfection for nearly 7-8 years.Longevity matters imo As for Bevan is better because he batted better with tail that is a BS argument IMO.There is no rule that the best finisher has to prove himself by batting with the tail. His job is finishing of games and he certainly is head and shoulders above anyone in the role and probably as good as Bevan too. If Bevan is better at batting with tail then Dhoni is better at even chasing 8-9 runs an over with ease. Both have strengths over each other in certain aspects but that doesnt make either of them any less good IMHO

dhoni > Sachin in ODIs. tendulkar outscores dhoni in longevity. dhoni a better match winner. dhoni - captain, wk-keeper, fitter, faster between the wkts. tendulkar - an all time great but over-rated among indian fans, not sure whether 'over-rated' is even applicable for all time greats.
Ok Paki! number of posts wise now you're on Dhoni's jersey number, it would be a great achievement on your part if you reach Sachin's number..:two_thumbs_up:

other then mcgrath none of the aussie tailender was no mug with bat, and even macgrath was taught to bat by steve waugh, other then that beven never had to face the best bowling attack of his time, Australian.

Bevan is miles ahead of Dhoni when it comes to facing deadly pace. He faced much better bowlers in his time. Dhoni is better against spin though and a better hitter than bevan. But Bevan was better as a complete batsman. Average- 70 against WI till Walsh and Ambrose were playing. 57 against Pakistan while Waqar , Wasim and Akhtar were together.Overall 45 against South Africa.

bevan ahead... for now. let's see what happens in next few years. few years back there were the lara-tendulkar comparisons. now there is no doubt left to who is better.
Are you sure about that? Forget Lara, there are many here and there who still believes Kallis, Pwnting and Dravid are far better bats than Sachin :winky: And after Dhoni's knock yesterday few even started questioning Sachin's status as the best one-day batsman :hysterical::hysterical:

I believe that at the position Dhoni bats , hes better than SRT. Hes got the right temperament for that position. He just has it. SRT doesnt like batting at 4 or isnt comfy at 4 down or so. As an opener in ODIs, SRTs credentials are unquestionable.
