Sachinism Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Police in the Indian capital, Delhi, say they have arrested a key figure allegedly involved in the planning of the deadly Mumbai attacks of 2008. Abu Jindal, also known as Syed Zabiuddin, has been remanded to police custody, a senior police official told the BBC. He is being described as the "handler" of the 10 gunmen who carried out the deadly assault on targets in Mumbai. The attacks claimed 165 lives. Nine gunmen were also killed. The sole surviving gunman from the attacks, Mohammad Ajmal Amir Qasab, was convicted of murder and waging war on India in May 2010 and given a death sentence. The 60-hour siege of Mumbai began on 26 November 2008, targeting luxury hotels, the main railway station and a Jewish cultural centre. Relations between India and Pakistan hit rock bottom after India blamed the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba for the attacks. After initial denials, Pakistan acknowledged that the assault had been partially planned on its territory and that Qasab was a Pakistani citizen. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-18576435# Found in Delhi. Indian citizen?
someone Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Didn't the government said there was no internal support? And sadly it seems like many people have believed so, after all we just continue to blame Pakistan. If our internal is strong enough, then external threats really will be minimum. But sadly our current government has vote-bank politics and loves certain communities.
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 ^ You are right but NOT just the current government but most coalition governments including the previous one bank on "community" factors.
Anonymous Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Yep, he is an Indian citizen but lives in Pakistan apparently (One of six handlers for 26/11). I personally believe that he wasnt picked up just like that from the airport, apparently Saudi intellignence helped the IB and RAW.
Sir john Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 26/11 handler Abu Hamza admits role in Mumbai terror attacks Alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant Syed Zabiuddin alias Abu Hamza alias Abu Jindal, who was arrested by Delhi Police, has admitted his active role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, saying he had worked in close tandem with terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. During his interrogation, Hamza reportedly confessed his role in the country's worst terror attack and admitted that he was present in the LeT control room in Karachi and was giving direction to the 10 terrorists who carried out the strike. He took a particular name and his specific task in executing the 26/11 attack. The interrogators suspect that this person was an ISI officer who was closely involved in executing the terror strike. After November 26, 2008, Hamza, a native of Beed district in Maharashtra, stayed in Pakistan for sometime before leaving to Saudi Arabia where he was working as a teacher. He has at least 10 aliases, and the first tip-off about his presence in Saudi Arabia was given by a terrorist who was arrested in connection with the Jama Masjid blast. Hamza also stayed in Bangladesh. Sources said the voice sample of Hamza is being sent for matching with those which were intercepted by the security agencies during the attack. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also expected to take custody of Hamza for further interrogation. The sources said foreign intelligence agencies have helped track down Hamza, who was wanted in several terror cases in Delhi, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Hamza was arrested on his arrival from Saudi Arabia at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport by Delhi Police on June 21.

Crookbond Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 26/11: Abu Jindal confesses role, links with Hafiz Saeed http://ibnlive.in.com/news/2611-abu-jindal-confesses-role-links-with-saeed/267909-3.html During the interrogation, Abu Jindal has admitted to handling the attack on Nariman House during 26/11, IB sources told CNN-IBN. He has admitted that he was in the Karachi control room under the guidance of Saeed.
Crookbond Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Islamabad has also responded to Abu Jindal's arrest. The Spokesperson of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi issued a statement. "Pakistan has been at the forefront in the campaign against terror. As agreed at the highest level between Pakistan and India, terrorism is a common concern and counter-terrorism cooperation is in the mutual interest of both countries. Pakistan has renewed its offer of cooperation in this domain," it says. How I wonder!

bulbul Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Denials started MUMBAI: Maharashtra's minister of state for education Fauzia Khan on Tuesday denied any links with arrested 26/11 terrorist Abu Jundal alias Zabiuddin Ansari. Khan's denial came after allegations that Jundal, an Indian mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, allegedly spent a day in a room belonging to Khan at the old legislators' hostel near Mantralaya in 2009. Khan was then a member of legislative council. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Maharashtra-minister-denies-links-with-Abu-Jundal-says-ready-to-face-inquiry/articleshow/14410840.cms
