Can you see him being there if we lose at home to Ingerland and/or Aus? FFS, we have lost 2 series at home in the last 25 years. Point is we won't lose at home or badly and the problem there is we will think everything is ok. Only to be exposed again abroad and for him to FINALLY get sacked. Sucks big time.

We need to think out the box for coach Kirsten had no experience but was excellent, my choice would be Dravid if he wants it if not I would look to someone like Gilchrist or ideally Fleming as he knows Dhoni very well and they have that winning link fom CSK and ultimately you are judged on how many IPL titles you win when all is said and done

Saying that though I dont think the coach is solely to blame, the Indians players are very talented but a they remind me a bit of the English football team, i.e prima donnas. One example, the physical conditional of the indian players compared to other teams i,e England, Australia, S Africa is poor, I cant understand why they dont go to the gym and beef up etc take the example of Zaheer last year in England, he should have been sent back home, he really lets you guys the supporters down turning up like that.

He and his team primarily focused on fitness and the WC, years in advance. He let Dhoni and the seniors make the strategies and only provided inputs occasionally. Fletcher on the other hand seems old school. He seems to be the type who wants to have a say. Also right now, the Indian team is in a stage where we don't have any definite targets. The WC is won. Our team is in transition, legends are retiring etc.

I understand the analogy you drew between Indian and English players. But, on ehting worth noting is, yo are judging Indian cricket only from the past 1 year. We have been one of the better teams of the past decade, specially in the period from 2007-11. The last year has been so pathetic that people just tend to forget the overall picture. And the English soccer team,I am afriad, is yet to do something of note on the international scene since an eternity. As for blame, this is a thread on the coach so he's being blamed. If you browse through the whole site, you would find that each and every player has been blamed for the debacle.

Our team is in transition, legends are retiring etc. The goals would always be there. I think players like Sachin/laxman would have liked to win a test series in OZ before retiring. Moreover, it's the duty of the leadership to keep it's inmates on toes and keep on setting new goals. This is where the coach/captian's role comes in.
