I don't think we should overcomplicate it by worrying about losing such and such the batsman, etc. Pick the best XI players and pick the captain from that. Right now it seems Kohli is the best candidate. Yes we may lose Kohli the batsman but we may gain Rahane, Sharma, Saha, Tiwary, etc. You don't know what the future may hold but what we do know is that the current setup is not working. If we give the captaincy to Kohli for 12-18 months and it doesn't work then who knows in 12-18 months another captaincy option may present itself. Michael Clarke's batting form prior to taking over the captaincy from Ponting was pretty horrible. Who knows, like Clarke, captaincy may spur Kohli to an even greater level. To use this an excuse not to change is silly. It's like that old saying "Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results".

The selectors seem to think that our performance in the ODIs is an indicator of how good a Test captain Dhoni is. If that is the way they see it then I wish that we lose 0-3 and 0-5 in the next two series Thoughts...
pathetic, start supporting your team.

The bias in our selectors is horrendous, why are kumar/shami even selected? Sandeep Sharma and Moheet Sharma both are better, they are just paying the price for being from punjab
