Sidhoni Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Rahane should be playing instead of Gambhir/Rohit.

NareshK Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 If we had another seamer, India could have won the 1st ODI. Shami Ahmed could have been handy as a support bowler to BK in first 10 overs against Pakistan and could have got a wicket or two. But Dhoni with his retarded, defensive 7 batsmen strategy is costing India big time. Whenever India defends less than par score, its advantage to the opposition because of lack of 5th bowling option and inexperience of main bowlers. Even Bangladesh won by chasing against India in Asia Cup. So unless India make 325 on 300 pitch, we are doomed. Its important at least to make a change now and stick to playing 5 bowlers as it will pay off in the longer run to win consistently. They can afford to do that because Ashwin is a good batsman lower down the order with good defense against spinners and seamers and can hit some good shots too. Otherwise, depending on toss and conditions, we will win one and lose another.
game_changerr Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 CHENNAI: A couple of horrendous decisions by Indian umpire S Ravi contributed to India's six-wicket defeat to arch-rivals Pakistan in the first ODI on Sunday. New Zealand's Billy Bowden and S Ravi were the two on-field umpires for the series-opener and some of the decisions by the Indian went against the home team which also lost a crucial toss under overcast conditions at the MA Chidambaram stadium. The Indians were done in by some poor umpiring by Ravi in the first ball of the 18th over off-spinner R Ashwin. Centurion Nasir Jamshed, who was batting on 24 then, misjudged a flighted ball from Ashwin which took the inside edge off his pads and Virender Sehwag took a smart catch at first slip. The Indians initially appealed for a leg before and then for a catch but Ravi turned down the appeal. Luck again favoured the visitors in the 28th over when a loud shout for leg before against Younus Khan was turned down by Ravi with Ashwin being the bowler again. Younus, who was on 46 then, missed his sweep shot and got hit in front of middle and off but the verdict went against the Indians. Both Jamshed (101 not out) and Younus (58) were largely responsible for rebuilding the Pakistani innings as they were struggling at 21 for two at one stage and the umpiring errors proved costly for the Indians. The duo put on a 112-run partnership for the third wicket which put the visitors on course again. The quality of Indian umpiring has not been quite upto the mark in recent times which is reflected by the fact that no Indian umpire is in the list of ICC's Elite panel. Former Indian captain S Venkatraghavan was the last Indian umpire on the panel but since his retirement no other umpire has made it to the list. India have four umpires in the ICC Emirates International Panel. They are Sudhir Asnani, S Ravi, Vineet Kulkarni, C Shamshuddin. source-the times of india
jusarrived Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I honestly dont know how we can loe again to this Pak side . Agree with op.
The Dark Horse Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Kick Gambhir, Sehwag and Rohit. Bring in Rahane, Pujara and Rayudu.
the don Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I honestly dont know how we can loe again to this Pak side . Agree with op. just like you lost the t20 and the 1st odi and about 70 other ODIs and 12 odd tests against pakistan , not to mention the recent great performances india have put up against england and australia :giggle:, but pakistan the poor ODI side that they are and with the tuk tuk brigade and malik in the batting lineup , beating india in india is actually hilarious :haha:
bajrang Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Indians are always the most vocal about pathetic umpiring' date=' the standard worldwide is shocking, but the BCCI seems convinced that unless the DRS can do more (WAY MORE) than just overturning howlers then its useless. We all saw how awful Dhoni was in using the DRS years ago, used it for the most ridiculous appeals, none were close to out, [b']USE IT FOR HOWLERS AND IT WORKS FINE. couldn't agree more.
Clarke Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 If Ishant & Dinda are your second and third seamers, I wonder what kind of reserves are available. They could have been targeted as well, at least Ishant wasn't any special with the new ball while Dinda went for almost 5 an over in a low scoring match. The batsmen decided to see them out doesn't mean they couldn't be scored off at all. Before we talk about a fifth bowler, lets sort the first four to have a proper attack.

NareshK Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 ^^The wicket became easy once the ball became old. India lost 5 wickets for 29 in first 10 overs and then scored 200/1 in last 40 overs. Pakistan scored 21/1 in first 10 and then scored 207 in last 40 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Pakistan pacers also gave plenty of runs in the end with Irfan going for 20 runs in an over. The last 10 yielded 80+ runs for India. The part timers made the difference because Indian 5th bowling option gave away 77 runs in 10 overs. Indian batsmen couldnt take chances in the middle overs against Hafeez because they lost too many wickets up front.
dangerman1985 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 just like you lost the t20 and the 1st odi and about 70 other ODIs and 12 odd tests against pakistan ' date=' not to mention the recent great performances india have put up against england and australia :giggle:, but pakistan the poor ODI side that they are and with the tuk tuk brigade and malik in the batting lineup , beating india in india is actually hilarious :haha:[/quote'] blame the senior players mainly for that. too much money and no motivation to perform. Otherwise who would have thought that average teams like pak and england would beat India and that too in India.:cantstop:
dangerman1985 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 what about rahul sharma the spinner never heard about him after the rave party incident
dangerman1985 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Kick Gambhir' date=' Sehwag and Rohit. Bring in Rahane, Pujara and Rayudu.[/quote'] rahane- yes pujara- not sure how he will perform in ODI and has yet to prove himself in tests rayudu- not seen him bat much as I do not follow the IPL but heard from people that he is good batsmen.
skindia Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Uthappa-Rahane should replace gambhir-sehwag do u agree?
dangerman1985 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 haha Dropping Gambhir/Sehwag for Rahane? If there is anyone who should be dropped and kicked from this team immediately is Rohit Sharma. Rahane should play instead of Rohit. gambhir and sehwag have not done anything of note in last 2 years to keep them in the team plus their poor fielding. rohit sharma deserves a last chance in this series. He should be sent to open the innings in the next two matches and if he fails, then he should be removed permanently.
Number Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I honestly dont know how we can loe again to this Pak side . Agree with op. Since these are useless JamODIs not big games, I expect Pak to beat us. :giggle::giggle:
