Sehwag between 2008-2011 was in some of the greatest form ever seen to ODI cricket. Therefore, one bad year is not due cause to drop him, especially where he is scoring quickly and has made two vital 30s and a 90 - all innings which helped win the match. .

what about 2000-2007. He had 2-3 good years in ODIs, otherwise he has been just an average batsman in ODIs.

I don't believe it is time to drop either Gambhir or Sehwag in ODIs. I think it is fair to say that: player X and player Y should replace player A and player B where players A and B have played for India in the last 12 months and are not named Kohli, Pujara, Ojha or Yadav. Barring these 4 all others have sucked donkey balls. Ashwin is counted as sucking as he has done awful with the ball which is his main job.

With shewag it was never about average it was about the impact he would have at the top with our good batting lineup to follow.Sadly even though he manges 30s even today its not enough with our weak lineup.I though he played well last game against pakistan,The bowling was top class and conditions were testing .

He always used to play 1-2 good innings and then strings of failures in ODIs.

If the team is looking forward, they need openers who could bat well in all conditions and not just flat conditions. Uthappa doesnt have the technique to survive when the ball moves around. He is just like Gambhir but he probably plays short pitch bowling better. Dont expect him to fight it out and hang around if the new ball bowlers get some swing which is always the case in Eng, Aus and SA.

What i am talking about is scoring 30s or 25 in 15 balls.Shewag scored at more than a run a ball utilizing the 10 overs.It was his role.
