JaFanatic Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 both awana and aaron may not get recovered by the start of this tourny
vvvslaxman Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Uthappa? how did he manage to come back? Surprised to see DK as well.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Some strange decisions - inclusion of Yuvraj who is coming off of a serious illness and will not be match fit for the tourney, Chawla in the squad when he has the one of the highest RR in IPL, exclusion of Awana who did more than good and should have been there instead of one of the Koomars. Other than that expected list and what you can see is not even a single "go to" bowler. When you look at this squad you go "how will we defend a total or get teams out for reasonable scores with these bowlers"

Awana's exclusion is equally mysterious..unless he has some injury issue.

IMO only 2 specialist in the squad is more than enough and they should be Ashwin and Rahul Sharma with Ojha as an outside shot to get in. On SL pitches our part-timers in Raina, Rohit etc. should be fine but it's the pacers who are the main worry. We don't have even one bowler who can be brought on to take wkts or curb the run rate a la Malinga, Narine, Steyn, Morkel, Ajmal etc. The best we have got is Ashwin who is a power-play specialist but other than him we have nobody we can even remotely turn to.
velu Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 my team sehwag gambhir kohli :(( rohit raina dhoni sir jaddu :finger: ( or yusuf ) Fatwin rahul/mishra zaheer :(( yadav Waterboy: Darty :hehe:

Ultimate_Game Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 we will make big scores so oter teams cant chase them :two_thumbs_up: You can't win consistently with this approach coz at some stage you either need to defend a so-so total or need to limit a team to a reasonable score. You can't realistically expect the team to score 180+ batting first or chase down 180 every game. This is exactly the reason we couldn't win even a single game in super 6s the last two editions of the tourney.
VRV Singh Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I am struggling to see the point of Zaheer playing these and certain other bilateral series if they really want to maintain him for Tests
Old guy Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I am struggling to see the point of Zaheer playing these and certain other bilateral series if they really want to maintain him for Tests let him play...atleast he is playing every series when fit :cantstop:
SLICKR392 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Zak' date='Umesh should be kept for tests only.I'd hv selected Bhatia n Awana too[/quote'] Umesh is just 24-25 and asking him to play only Test would be a blunder.
Needforspeed Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Zak shoul've been rested. With a long season coming up, we need him in tests. Anyway he is not particularly good in T20.

You only need to look at how we won the T20 WC in 2007 to see the importance on bowlers.
