I sincerely hope the Indian team management don't tinker with what's working. Keep Umesh for Tests and keep him away from shorter formats. We have enough bowlers for shorter formats in Bumrah, Nehra, Bhuvi, Shami (if fit) and let Umesh focus on Tests. Hope they do something about our pathetic slip catching as well coz without catching everything in slips, we can kiss any chance of winning away from subcontinent goodbye.

I also hope in tests they get in aaron and other real fast guys . We could have conveyor belt if we get this right .

What i would say last World Cup in aus yadav was great . In india no good but overseas maybe a weapon

Well he cupped and massages ishant and he never did become the bowler we dreamed off lol well it could be ishant cupped and massaged but to be honest no one really knows which way round it was

Every captain has bowlers that he trusts and ones that he doesn't.  Sometimes the trust is incorrect and doesn't pay off.  Dhoni wasn't innocent of this.  He was captain long enough to rack up a long list of mistakes.  But no need to attribute intentions to mistakes - that's just baseless speculation and spleen-venting.  Childish.

Give VK time, I'm sure he'll make his share of mistakes in rotating bowlers or picking them.  IIRC he gave Umesh and Ishant the new ball and used Shami as 1st change in one of the Windies test matches.  Is it because him and Ishant are butt-buddies?  Captains do that.  They make choices and decisions, some of them don't make sense from the outside, and look horribly wrong, given obvious choices.  Sometimes they pay off.  Sometimes they don't.

I just can't stand the constant slagging off of Dhoni long after he's gone from the test scene.  I know its a forum for opinions and all, but come on.  The constant spewing of slurs is just stupid.

If you want him to focus in tests . Then must get grade A

frankly speedsters who wanted to devote to tests shoudl get a super grade a deal lol

I would give him a Grade A contract. A wkt taker in Tests, especially a pacer, is worth his weight in gold. He should focus only on Tests else we risk losing him if he plays all those odis and T20s.

I know what saying about moving on from dhoni talk . But dhoni still relanavt here as players like yadav are are still direct links to dhoni captaincy . So if they improve etc dhoni handling will be refered to in comparison with current mangt .

Thank goodness this guy is starting to pay off some of the trust shown in his abilities by the management/leadership unlike Ishant who still keeps playing despite not having improved much over almost a decade. Imho the key in his case is willingness to learn, hard work, and confidence shown by the team. Hats-off to UY for a fantastic showing in this series.... he truly led our 'attack'... let us hope that the batters win this one tomorrow and make it double sweet.

No. Aaron has to prove he deserves a Test call by performing in domestic cricket.

Bowling quick doesn't guarantee anything. line & length is the key. Without line & length the faster you bowl, the faster you get hit to the boundary. Aussie, English and SA batsmen see a 140 kph pacer every game and unless you bowl line & length, they will take the game away from you. For now Umesh, Shami, Bhuvi, Pandya as an all-rounder and probably one or two domestic performers should make it to the Test squad.

Aaron should be given the message that he has to master line & length if he wants to make it back to intl level. Tests is not the place for players to learn and they should have the basics covered before they get into the Test squad.

I haven't seen any news in Indian cricket about him and neither have I heard of any notable performance from him this season.

Had the nerve to criticize Umesh after repeated spraygun performances where he dished up short and wide deliveries every few balls that got spanked for a basketful of boundaries in ODI cricket.   So because he criticized an inconsistent Umesh in 2012-13, these geniuses feel that Umesh's improved performances five years later justifies all kinds of name-calling and poisonous puking against a legend of Indian cricket.

How dare he criticize the great phaast hope when he stank it up repeatedly?  He should have cupped his balls and massaged them until Yadav became the bowler that he is today.

Dhoni was not wrong in criticizing Umesh. As a captain Dhoni had every right to give him a piece of his mind after a poor performance. But do that in the dressing room and not in a goddamn press conference.

Aaron got injured after a couple of  Ranji Trophy matches.  It was a freak heel injury which is neither common nor can it be blamed on the fitness level of a pacer.

In the  T20 SMA trophy, he picked up 8 wickets from 4 matches

In the 50 over  VH Trophy, he picked up 14 wickets from 7 matches at an average of 21.6 and ER of only 4.9

On the last A tour to Australia , he picked up some crucial wickets and was very economical.

I would say that he is doing well in domestic cricket this season.

Have heard of Nathu Singh, Shardul Thakur and that new left arm pacer performing well but not heard of anything Aaron has done this season.

Then pick him up for shorter formats. You can't pick a player for Tests based on his performances in shorter formats.

Don't disagree with you.  But its quite a gray area these days as to what is OK to mention in a presser vs what not to.  In the same vein, should VK have talked about the whole Pujara strike rate stuff publicly?  Why did he have to pile up pressure on one of our finest test batsman, and the lynchpin of the middle order - the guy that protects Kohli from the new ball time and again?  See?  Its easy to point out mistakes and construct arguments to bash a Captain.  But lets take mistakes and misjudgements as what they are.  Its when you start extrapolating from these and turn it into "he's doing it because of nepotism, he's corrupt blah blah" that's when its hard to tolerate.  I would be similarly irritated if some idiot posted nonsensical conspiracy theory about VK dropping Pujara to protect his captaincy.

I saw him bowling in the 4 day A team games and his accuracy was really good.

Picked up 6 wickets from one and a half matches (  one match partly rained out )  at an average of 29.5 and an ER of 3.2
