Umar Akmal Vs Rohit Sharma

Both these batsmen are talented and when they came on the intl scene it seemed the world was their oyster. They made cricket look too easy and everybody assumed they will be the next cricketing superstars. Fast forward a few years they have regressed to the point they are not even regulars in their teams anymore in all the formats. In case of Akmal he simply doesn't know how to build an innings or to finish off a match and self-destructs. Rohit is simply an enigma. With all the talent in the world Rohit keps on disappointing his team, selectors and his fans time and again even after playing 80 odd games. I think it's fair to say that age may be on their side but time isn't. Selectors and fans are getting impatient after watch one brain-headed implosion after another and if they don't shae up they may just be shipped out. At least Rohit is already in the last chance saloon and Akmal may very well join him if he doesn't turn around his career soon. So who do you guys think is better and whom would you have in the team? I think I may go with Akmal in shorter format and with Rohit in the longer format. What about you guys?

I see it the other way. Rohit knows that if he doesn't perform he will be kicked out and the pressure is there on him to perform ever game as likes of Tiwary, Rahane, Pujara are waiting in the wings. But Akmal faces no such pressures. He knows he can suck till kingdome come and he will still be in the team. After all it's the same team where Afridi has been playing for the past 16 years :giggle:

Rohit is lacking focus and concentration, does not keep eyes on the ball and watch is closely like Kohli. He is indecisive in his short making. It happens to most naturally gifted batsmen.

When i hear Umar Akmal name all i hear is hype hype i remember when he first scored that century in nz and first century in sl everyone was saying next Sachin this and that but let me tell despite having so many chances to play for his team he never performed well apart from few innings here and there where as Rohit needs a Break .

I think he should just be given simple targets. Play 20 balls. Only hit in the V for first 30 runs. I know it sounds basic and naive but right now I just get a feeling that he is just not getting in. He would have survived atleast 2 times if he would have just played straight.
