saffers have always been the team after india that i like watching. west indies next. they always seem to have so much fun. and yeah, used to cheer for england until recently. was split when they toured south africa. and now....

Nothing likable in them, neither is there anything that I would dislike. NZ are a bunch of robots programmed to be the losing semi finalists in every major competition. In fact, if the entire nation of NZ were to join Alice, the mad hatter and the wizard of Oz in wonderland, it wouldn't make any difference to anyone else, in cricketing terms and otherwise.

Actually i like NZ quite a lot semi-final team always performs better than its ability, plays the game for the right reasons... i used to totally love Collingwoods England but i hate the present one, too pompous. Steve waugh Aussies were awesome too because of their dominance and genius.. SA are such professionals, athletes.. steyn,smith,amla..but i get irritated when they choke. I hate the SC teams because of their fans and some pathetic player attitude, if i was not from india i would have hated Indian team too, very arrogant and self centered players and commentators.

People generally like lovable losers. I recall everyone liked India as well before 2000s and before India started doing well under Ganguly. Then suddenly Indians became arrogant and full of themselves. I have no doubt the day Kiwis have a good team and consistently start beating the top teams they won't be liked anymore. Sad but true.

And don't you recall so many people upset at Fleming's remarks that Indian batsmen aren't that great and can't do much in tough conditions? I distinctly recall Fleming & Kiwis were a lot less liked in early to mid 2000s, and in fact plenty of people panned Fleming the way he treated Smith in Smith's first tour to NZ where kiwis blanked SA 5-0 and Fleming mentally disintegrated Smith :giggle:

That's why I mentioned the series. Every team which isn't expected to pose much challenge looks like a likeable team.

We came back and levelled the series. BCCI never toured NZ for a lot of years in revenge :hehe::hehe: They had to give us less seaming wickets last time we went :yay::yay:

True. It's in human nature to pull for under-dogs, empathise with losers and hate winners. As I said earlier the moment Kiwis start kicking @$$ they did for some time under Fleming when likes of Bond & Astle were around, they will start getting liked a lot less. You can't really like someone who kicks your @$$, can you :giggle:

But the Kiwis will never be a good team, too small a population base to find players who can consistently beat top sides. Just an odd one here or there who can turn it on every 5-10 games or so. Like Ross Taylor, Vettori, McCullum, etc.

You just proved my point, i.e. only losers can be likeable. As soon as you start winning people will start disliking you more and more In a way I take "likeable" as an under-handed compliment which says "you aren't really good enough to trouble us and we like you for it".

They are good but the babes just keep gifting matches. It takes out the element of competition from the game, having said though, Fleming's NZ team was my favourite.
