Lord Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Sorry nothing is going to pacify me from here on - all of those mentioned OUT and Kohli for captain. but hes too young?:--D
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 but hes too young?:--D I am talking about T20 - a format for young players. You ask me for ODIs or Tests, I will say NO. Btw, RKt makes an important point. All emotions aside Kohli did not contribute against good bowling attacks of Australia and South Africa.
Yoda-esque Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Its obvious we dont care much for t20 apart from IPL where players make easy money. Yes,its best that a young team goes next year like 2007
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Ganguly on Star Cricket studio - Zaheer Khan looked very good today. Pietersen - Zaheer was very very good. Can I say Zakk's back?
Number Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 We don't plan much for T20s anyway. Whenever we tour, our ODIs and T20s squad are the same, we don't try any new players. When in India, we just add 1 or 2 players in ODI squad randomly, like gave Uthappa a chance for 1 match, next time after 2 months someone else get a chance in 1 game. World T20 is the only tournament, where we take it a bit seriously. I'd like if we just put a young team in this format, as we hardly care.
veer Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 On the contrarary veeru should stick only with 20/20 and retire from all others.. provided he plays like he played against pak.. l gauti - retire rohit - nah.. i am not losing hope on him.. Dhoni - nah.. but need to change his strategy.. bhajji, balaji- retire
veer Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 What did Sehwag do special against Pakistan? played at 50% responsibility rate... didnt slog from ball 1.
maniac Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 First thing,is if IPL is rated as one of the best Domestic leagues in the world than make that the benchmark of getting into the T20 squad. That way makes the league more competitive for youngsters and might lift the quality of the tournament and at the same time there will be no excuse as we have the best squad from the best T20 tournament in the world......Some players just play IPL and walk into the squad like their baap ka raaj....it's time they learned to earn it
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 played at 50% responsibility rate... didnt slog from ball 1. Where was that responsibility today? Just messed up whatever advantage we had in the PP. I am not sure if that was responsibility against Pakistan or trying to prove a point. You just never know with Sehwag ... never.
Lord Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 played at 50% responsibility rate... didnt slog from ball 1. thats his job,to slog

But his irreponsibility has higher value in Tests.. so to keep him in Test and not in 20/20 is a crime
veer Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 thats his job' date='to slog[/quote'] mindless slogging aka veeru/afridi.. is not his job.
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 First thing,is if IPL is rated as one of the best Domestic leagues in the world than make that the benchmark of getting into the T20 squad. Take Balaji's case for example - Did we perform well in IPL? Yes. But, what messed him up in the World T20. One can not take IPL performance de facto and say the player will succeed. The selectors have to understand the latent information - skills, attitude etc. before making the decision. This will involve intense scrutiny of each and every player. But, up & above all IPL will never help because the main aim of the IPL is to provide "entertainment" to the general masses. Shorter boundaries, flatter pitches are not a label of skill. I would argue that performance in IPL can in fact count for sifar if the World T20 is held at certain places in the world.
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 that's what I am saying.. if he doesnt take responsibility then let him go too.. In the last 2 years - I have only seen two or max three innings of responsibility from Sehwag. He's the kind of bloke as Greg Chappell says will work his butt off once he's dropped but start taking his place for granted once he realizes there's no one on his tail. In any case, the T20 squad itself needs a overhaul.
Lord Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 mindless slogging aka veeru/afridi.. is not his job. with just 128 to get,I would hv taken Sehwag getting out for 20 off 10
NareshK Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I completely agree that Zak, Sehwag, Bhajji, Balaji should not play T20s anymore. When India plays T20s, they dont look energetic or positive on the field, whether they win or lose is another matter. They look a very slow outfit which is just waiting for things to happen. All these things matters in crunch moments when a positive mindset can mean winning or losing a game.
Texy Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 If we go back few months to IPL....does anyone remember the intensity shown by Gambhir when playing for KKR?? Almost every match Gambhir was the "danger man." What happen to that Gambhir? Was he not fully committed to this IPL T20? If not, they why not inform the management n let someone else play? Or will he only be committed if he's made captain like in KKR?
The Realist Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Appoint a young captain and build a new team. Need fresh ideas and out of the box thinking - qualities which Dhoni & his clique seriously lack. 3 tournaments in a row have crashed out before the semi's despite having the best domestic T20 competition. Enough is enough.
veer Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 with just 128 to get' date='I would hv taken Sehwag getting out for 20 off 10[/quote'] hindsight is always good..
